Configuration utility for Windows 95/98 - ThinkPad 365, 380, 560, 760
Applicable countries and regions
This package provides the following utility programs for Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98 users:
- ThinkPad Configuration program (setup program)
- Fuel-Gauge program

for:
- Windows 95 (for all ThinkPad models in the Supported Models list)
- Windows 98 (for 760C, 760CD, 760L, 760LD only. For all other systems, use the separate Windows 98 Configuration Utility.)

This package enables or updates the configuration utility programs of the following ThinkPad computers:
- ThinkPad 365X, 365XD
- ThinkPad 380, 380D, 380E, 380ED, 380XD, 380Z
- ThinkPad 385D, 385ED, 385XD
- ThinkPad 560, 560E, 560X, 560Z
- ThinkPad 760C, 760CD, 760L, 760LD
- ThinkPad 760E, 760ED, 760EL, 760ELD, 760XD, 760XL
- ThinkPad 765D, 765L

Starting with version 4.18 of the ThinkPad Configuration Utility, the On Screen Display program must be installed with it's own setup program. Click here to download the latest version of the On Screen Display program.

 
Notes:

  • User's who wish to configure the Personalization Editor will need the Personalization Editor Data Diskette
  • This Configuration Utility program will work in Windows 98; however, there is a separate Configuration Utility which uses ActiveX components to provide the same functionality. That Configuration Utility is available for all systems EXCEPT the ThinkPad 760C, 760CD, 760L, and 760LD. All other supported systems users should obtain the Windows 98 Configuration Utility package.

II. Installation instructions

  1. Start Windows 95/98.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Type [Program Path]\SETUP, and click OK. Program Path is the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Note:
When prompted for target directory during installation, only a short name can be specified for a target directory, e.g. C:\THINKPAD. Do NOT specify a directory name with spaces, e.g. C:\IBM ThinkPad\.
 
III. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start the ThinkPad Configuration program. The main screen will be displayed.
  2. In the Configuration Utility screen, click Help then click About . The About dialog window will be displayed.
  3. The version will be displayed next to Utility.
