I. Summary of changes

II. Installation instructions
Microsoft Windows 98

  1. Start Windows 98.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the System icon.
  5. Click the Device Manager tab.
  6. Expand the Network adapters section.
  7. Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) to select it.
  8. Click the Properties button.
  9. Click the Driver tab.
  10. Click the Update Driver button.
  11. Click the Next button on the Update Device Driver Wizard window.
  12. Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.(Recommended).
  13. Click the Next button.
  14. Select Specify a location: only.
  15. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Specify a location:.
  16. Click the Next button.
  17. Click the Next button. The driver installation starts.
  18. Click the Finish button when the installation completes.
  19. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

Microsoft Windows Me

  1. Start Windows Me.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the System icon.
  5. Click the Device Manager tab.
  6. Expand the Network adapters section.
  7. Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) to select it.
  8. Click the Properties button.
  9. Click the Driver tab.
  10. Click the Update Driver button.
  11. Select Specify the location of the driver(Advanced).
  12. Click the Next button.
  13. Select Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now.(Recommended).
  14. Select Specify a location: only.
  15. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Specify a location:.
  16. Click the Next button.
  17. Click the Next button. The driver installation starts.
  18. Click the Finish button when the installation completes.
  19. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

III. Determining which version is installed

  1. Start Windows 98/Me.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Device Manager tab.
  5. Expand the Network adapters section.
  6. Double-click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100).
  7. Click the Driver tab.
  8. Click the Driver File details button.
  9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\E100BNT5.SYS. The file has the file version number embedded.
