This package provides the 3Com modem drivers for the 10/100 Ethernet Mini PCI Adapter with 56k Modem (Mini PCI Combo) for Microsoft Windows XP.

- ThinkPad TransNote

This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

II. Installation instructions
  1. The modem has native XP support and will automatically install the native drivers. To install an updated driver proceed to step 2.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. In the Open field, type C:\DRIVERS\WXP\MODEM\MDMSETUP\SETUP.EXE and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
  5. Click the Next button at the Welcome dialog screen.
  6. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  7. Double-click the System tab.
  8. Select the Hardware tab.
  9. Click the Device Manager tab.
  10. Click the + next to Modem.
  11. Right-click the 3Com 56K V.90 Mini PCI modem and select properties.
  12. Select the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button.
  13. Select Install from a list or specific location (advanced) and click the Next button.
  14. Select Include this location in the search, type c:\windows\options\cabs in the dialog box, and click Next.
  15. Click Finish. The modem is now installed.

Uninstall instructions
  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Open Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Scroll through the list of software to find the 3Com Modem Driver. Select it, then click Remove.

III. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows XP
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
  4. Select the Modems tab.
  5. Select the 3Com Mini PCI 56K Modem and click the Properties button.
  6. Select the Diagnostics tab.
  7. Click the Query Modem button.
  8. Scroll down to where the ATI7 command is displayed. The driver version will be displayed.
