Power management driver for Windows 98 - ThinkPad R30

This package provides ACPI power management support (Fn+F3/F12 keys) for Microsoft Windows 98.
This release supports the following ThinkPad computers:
- ThinkPad R30, R31
Notes: - If you use Windows 98 SE, install the Power Management Driver for Microsoft Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP (ACPI). This package is only for Windows 98 (not for Windows 98SE). - This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. |

I. Summary of changes
Version 1.17
(New) Initial for ThinkPad R30.
Version 1.18
(Fix) There is a possibility that screen may flash by Fn + F3 screen blanking.
II. Installation instructions
Note: The ThinkPad Software Installer provides install/uninstall wizard for this package.
For initial installation:
- Start Windows 98.
- Open Control Panel; then double-click the Add New Hardware icon.
- Click Next.
- Click Next.
- Select Unknown Device from the Devices: list. (*1)
- Click Next.
- Click Finish. Unknown Device Properties comes up.
- Click the Reinstall Driver button in the General Page.
- Select Specify the location of the driver[Advanced] option.
- Click Next.
- Select Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want option.
- Click Next.
- Select Other devices.
- Click Next.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the directory name where you extracted this package; then click OK.
- Select PM Device from Models list; then click Next.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Restart the system.
For update installation - when a previous driver is already installed:
- Start Windows 98.
- Open Control Panel; then double-click the System icon.
- Select the Device Manager tab.
- Click View device by type.
- Double-click System devices.
- Double-click PM Device.
- Select the Driver tab; then click the Update Driver button.
- Click Next.
- Select Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want. option.
- Click Next.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the directory name where you extracted this package; then click OK.
- Select PM Device from Models list; then click Next.
- If Insert Disk message is displayed, click OK.
- If another Insert Disk dialog is displayed, specify the directory name where you extracted this package; then click OK.
- If Update Driver Warning message is displayed, select Yes.
- Click Next.
- If Version Conflict dialogs are displayed, select No.
- Close the device property.
- Restart the system.
Note: *1 When you see several unknown devices, please try the top one first. If the installation does not find the hardware information and does not complete the process, cancel it and try the next one.
Determining which version is installed
Method 1
If you have the original extracted files, find the DISKKU.VER file. You can see the version information using a text editor.
Method 2
Check the date stamp of the IBMPMDRV.SYS file under the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS directory. For example, 1:00 means Version 1.00.
