• The firmware for high rate wireless LAN Mini PCI combo card must be version 1.03.03.00 or later to install this driver for Windows XP. See the section Determining which version is installed later in this document to find what firmware version is installed.
• The High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter III is shipped with the latest firmware and no update is required.
• This software can only be used with the machines on the supported list on this page. Use of this software with any other machine is strictly prohibited.
• ThinkPad Software Installer provides an install or an uninstall wizard for this package.
• Driver installation to Windows 95/Me/NT is not supported by ThinkPad Software Installer. Follow the manual installation instruction as described in this section.
• In some cases, you may need to re-enter SSID and/or WEP keys after updating the driver.
• See the attached file 1awc32ww.txt for the Unattended Installation Guide, which is intended only for system administrators.

1. Start Windows 98/98SE/2000/XP. If using Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start and then click Run.
4. In the run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANACT\SETUP.EXE to install the driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you have extracted the files to a different location, specify this location instead.
5. Follow the instructions.
6. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system.
   
   

1. Start Windows 95/Me.
2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
4. Double-click System.
5. Click Device Manager, click Network Adapters, then double-click High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI Combo card or High Rate Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter III.
6. Click Driver then click Update Driver.
7. Follow the instructions, and specify the location for the driver files where you extracted the package in step 2.
   • Default location for Windows Me is C:\Drivers\Win\WLLANACT\ME
   • Default location for Windows 95 is C:\Drivers\Win\WLLANACT\95
8. Click Finish when prompted and restart the system.
   
   

1. Start Windows NT and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
3. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
4. Double-click Network. If this is the first time configuring the network, then the Network Configuration dialog box is displayed. If the Network Configuration dialog box is not displayed, then go to step 20.

18. Click Finish when the installation completes.
19. Click Yes when prompted to restart the system.
