This package provides the Modem driver for Microsoft Windows 95/98 users.

The Modem driver enables or updates the modem function of ThinkPad AL Modem or Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile combo adapter of the following ThinkPad computers:

- ThinkPad 600X *
- ThinkPad A20m, A20p
- ThinkPad A21m, A21p, A21e
- ThinkPad A22m, A22p, A22e
- ThinkPad A30, A30p
- ThinkPad A31, A31p
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23
- ThinkPad X20, X21, X22, X23, X24
- ThinkPad TransNote **

* Check the following file to find the latest list ofsupported countries and regions:
C:\Progra~1\ThinkPad\TPModem\TPMDMUS.TXT
** Supports Windows 98 only.

I. Summary of changes
Version 8.22

  • (Fix) Fix a connectivity issue in certain telephone line in India.
  • (Fix) Fix the system freeze issue with F-Secure Anti-Virus.

II. Installation instructions

Install

  1. Start Microsoft Windows 95/98
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. In the Run dialog window, specify C:\DRIVERS\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, then specify that location instead.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective..

Unattended install
NOTE
:
This is for system administrators' use only.

  1. Start Windows 95 or Windows 98.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MDMLUC\SETUP.EXE -S, then click OK.
III. Uninstallation instructions
NOTE: If you do not remove the modem hardware, then Windows will detect the modem on the next boot.
  1. Start Windows.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel.
  4. Select Lucent Win Modem.
  5. Click the Add/Remove button.
  6. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
  7. When asked to restart the system, click the Yes button.

IV. Determining which version is installed

  1. Start Windows 95/98
  2. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Modems.
  4. Click the Diagnostics tab.
  5. Select the COM port with the name Lucent Win Modem.
  6. Click More Info.
  7. Check Command | Response window to check the result of ATI3. The version of the driver installed is displayed.
