I. Installation instructions
NOTE:
- Ethernet Daughter Card - The name of the Ethernet device driver is Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection in the Device Manager and in the Network Control Panel.
- Intel Mini PCI Card - The name of the Ethernet device driver is Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter in the Device Manager and in the Network Control Panel.
- Click on the appropriate operating system for install instruction:
Windows 95
NOTE: Device drivers are located in the Win9x subdirectory for Windows 95
Update install:
- Start Windows 95.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET.
- Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Click the + mark to expand Network adapters.
- Click Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection or Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter.
- Click Properties.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click Update Driver.
- Select Yes (Recommended) in response to Do you want Windows to search for the driver?.
- Click Next.
- Click Other Locations.
- Specify C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\Win9x
- Click OK.
- Click Finish.
Clean install
If this is the first boot of Windows 95 after installing the Ethernet Daughter Card or the Intel Mini PCI Card in the computer, Windows 95 detects the card automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET.
- Start Windows 95.
- When the Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box displays, click the Next button.
- Click Other Locations.
- Specify C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\Win9x, and click OK.
- Click Finish.
- When the Insert Disk dialog box displays, click OK.
- Specify C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\Win9x in the Copy files from: field, and click OK.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen to configure network settings.
- Follow the prompts for any Windows 95 installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains the Windows 95 files.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
NOTE: If Windows 95 detected the PCI Ethernet Controller, but was not able to find the correct device driver. In this case, you will see PCI Ethernet Controller in Other devices in Device Manager. To install the driver, follow the instructions outlined in the TPNWALL.TXT file.
Windows NT 4.0
Update install
To update the device driver and power management driver
Ethernet Device Driver
- Start Windows NT 4.0.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Adapters tab.
- Select Intel PRO/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter.
- Click the Update button.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box.
- Click the Continue button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Ethernet Power Management Driver (NDIS PM Interface)
- Start Windows NT 4.0.
- Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Services tab.
- Select NDIS PM Interface.
- Click the Update button.
- Specify the path to sub-directory NPMINT40 of the directory that contains the driver in the step 2 in Windows NT Setup dialog box.
- Click the Continue button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Clean Install
Ethernet Device Driver
- Start Windows NT 4.0.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon. It displays Network Configuration dialog box if this is the first time to configure the Network. If not, go to step 20.
First Network Configuration
- Click the Yes button.
- Select Wired to the network.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Select from list button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box.
- Click the OK button.
- Select Intel PRO Adapter.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Next button.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Follow the prompts for any Windows NT installation disks by typing the path to the directory that contains Windows NT files. (It is usually c:\i386 directory or Windows NT CD-ROM's x:\i386 directory.)
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Click the Finish button when the installation completes.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Add Ethernet to Network Configuration
- Click the Adapters tab.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the directory name with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box.
- Click the OK button.
- Select Intel PRO Adapter.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Close button.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Ethernet Power Management Driver (NDIS PM Interface)
- Start Windows NT 4.0.
- Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Protocols tab.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Specify the path to sub-directory NPMINT40 of the directory that contains the driver in the step 2 in Insert Disk dialog box.
- Click the OK button.
- Select NDIS PM Interface.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Unattended Installation
For customers who need unattended installation, the DOS driver (E100B.DOS) is included in DOS sub-directory in this package. Unattended installation instructions are also included in PUSH subdirectory The DOS driver can be used only for this purpose.
OS/2
OS/2 driver is included in OS2 subdirectory in this package. To install or update the device driver, use the standard tools provided by the operating system and point to the media or directory containing the drivers, such as follows:
- Double-click OS/2 System.
- Double-click System Setup .
- Double-click MPTS Network Adapters and Protocol Services.
- Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system:
Windows
- Right-click the My Computer icon.
- Click Find or Search.
- Type one of the NDIS driver names in Named: field. For example, if you are using Windows 2000, type E100bnt5.sys in the field.
- Click the Find Now or Search Now button. It lists the NDIS driver(s). If it does not list the NDIS driver, the Ethernet device driver is not installed in your system.
- Right-click the NDIS driver that is found in the Windows folder.
- Click Properties.
- Click the Version tab.
- Click Product Version in the Items name: field.
DOS
- Find the file E100b.dos.
- To determine if a driver update is needed, check the date of the driver file. If the date is older then 04/17/2001, then you need to update your driver.
