Keyboard Customizer Utility for Windows 2000, XP - ThinkPad

This package provides ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility for Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP users.

ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility enables predefined assignments for:

- A Windows key and an Application key on the ThinkPad keyboard.
- Audio volume control buttons, mute button, ThinkPad button/Access IBM button, Suspend/Hibernate, Wireless Radio Control, EasyEject, Full Screen Magnifier, and Presentation Director on the external keyboard.

This package installs ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility which
enables to customize the ThinkPad and external keyboard, and to
assign 'Key Sensitivity' and 'Special character input' functions.

If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing)
this package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand
functions as noted below.

Installation instructions
Notes:
  1. Start Windows 2000/XP and logon with a User ID of Administrator.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\KEYCUSTM\SETUP in the Open box and click OK. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Unattended install for Windows 2000/XP
Note: This is for system administrators' use only.
  1. Start Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
  3. Click Start and then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\KEYCUSTM\SETUP.EXE -S -SMS
    Note: System will not reboot automatically.

Uninstallation instructions
Note: If ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility is running, close it.


For Windows 2000
Start Windows 2000 and logon with a User ID of Administrator.
  1. Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. Select ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility.
  4. Click Change/Remove.
  5. Restart the system.

For Windows XP
  1. Start Windows XP and logon with a User ID of Administrator.
  2. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
  4. Select ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility.
  5. Click Change/Remove.
  6. Restart the system.

Determining which version is installed
  1. Open ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility.
  2. Right click the title bar and select Keyboard Customizer Utility information. The version will be displayed.

Restrictions
  • Automatically enable and disable key assignments (USB keyboards only) follows Keyboard connection status in Device Manager/Keyboards.
  • When you run PC-Doctor for Windows, you need to select Disable key assignment(s).
  • Browser keys' sensitivity function is not supported on ThinkPad R30, R31, R32
  • If your keyboard does not have right Alt key, your assignment for right Alt key is ignored.
