Lucent Modem driver for Windows 95/98/NT4.0 - ThinkPad 570/E

This device driver package provides the Microsoft Windows 95/98 and NT 4.0 modem device drivers for ThinkPad AL Modems or ThinkPad LT Modems.

This release supports the following systems:
- ThinkPad 570, 570E Series (with Internal Modem)

I. Summary of changes
version 5.99b

  • (Fix) Fix setup program module not to remove other devices.
  • (Fix) Fix Com port assignment issue with BlueTooth Device.

II. Installation instructions

  1. Start Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT. If using Windows NT logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. After the driver has been installed, shutdown and restart the system before attempting to use the modem.
III. Uninstall instructions
NOTE: If you do not remove the modem hardware, Windows will detect the modem on the next boot.
  1. Start Windows 95/98 or NT.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Modems icon.
  4. Select Lucent Win Modem.
  5. Click the Remove button.
  6. When you are asked if you want to remove the modem, click the Yes button.
  7. Click the Close button in the Modem Properties window.
  8. Windows NT users will also need to do steps 9 through 12.
  9. Double-click the Devices icon in the Control Panel.
  10. Select the Lucent Modem Driver.
  11. Click the Startup button.
  12. Select Disabled and click the OK button.
  13. Click the Close button in the Devices window.
  14. Restart the system.
IV. Determining which version is installed
File names with the letter 'x' in the column means that file is supported by that operating system.

Checking the date/time of these files.
  1. Start Windows 95/98 or NT.
  2. Click Start, select Find, then click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab.
  4. In the Named: field, type each file name listed in the table.
  5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
  6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard disk drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system.
  7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in the appropriate operating system: Windows 95/98: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM Windows NT: C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 or C:\WINNT40\SYSTEM32
  8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
