This package enables or updates the utility programs on any of the following ThinkPad systems:

- ThinkPad R40, R40e

DOS users need the following packages:

When you install ThinkPad Configuration for DOS in DOS screen under Windows NT, the following package is also required.
- ThinkPad Configuration package for Windows NT

When you install ThinkPad Configuration for DOS in DOS screen under Windows 2000/XP, the following package is also required.
- ThinkPad Configuration package for Windows 95/98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP
- Start DOS.
- Type [Program Path]\UINSTALL and press the Enter key.
- Press the Enter key again.
- Select Install DOS ThinkPad Configuration at the Installation Options screen; then follow the instructions on the screen.
Method 1 (Recommended)
- Install ThinkPad Configuration Package for Windows NT, by selecting ThinkPad Configuration for DOS installation option. Refer to the installation instructions for the DOS package.
Method 2
- Install ThinkPad Configuration for Windows NT. Refer to the installation instructions section of the package.
- Logon to NT with a UserID of Administrator and start MS-DOS prompt from Start menu.
- Follow the same instruction as above for DOS.
Note: Since UINSTALL is designed for pure DOS, the installation may not be completed successfully depending on environments. Method 1 is recommended.
Method 1 (Recommended)
- Install ThinkPad Configuration Package for Windows 95/98/98 SE/Me/2000/XP, by selecting ThinkPad Configuration for DOS installation option. Refer to the installation instructions for the DOS package.
Method 2
- Install ThinkPad Utility Package for Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me/2000. Refer to the installation instructions section of the package.
- Logon to Windows NT with a UserID of Administrator and start MS-DOS prompt from Start menu.
- Follow the same instruction as above for DOS.

- Start OS/2.

If ThinkPad Configuration for OS/2 program is not supported for your system, you need to install System Management device driver first.
- Open the System Setup folder in the OS/2 System folder.
- Select Device Driver Install and click the Install... button.
- Click ThinkPad System Management Device Driver. Then click OK.
- Open an OS/2 prompt.
- Type [Program Path]\INSTUTD2 and press the Enter key.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Open a DOS screen.
- Execute the command PS2.EXE ?. The version will be displayed next to Utility for DOS on the second line.
