1. For Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP, make sure you are logged on with administrative privileges.
2. Click Start, select Programs, and then click Explorer; or click Start, select Programs, select Accessories, and then click Explorer.
3. Open the directory where this package is extracted. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SWINST.
   Note: If your system is running a retail version of Windows 98, double-click the ShFolder file.
   
4. Double-click Setup.exe.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
   
   

1. For Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP, make sure you are logged on with administrative privileges.
2. For Windows XP, click Start, then click Control Panel.
   For Windows NT 4.0/2000, Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
   
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Select Software Installer and click Add/Remove.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
   
   

1. Start Windows 2000/XP, logon with administrative privileges.
2. Download a special version of Software Installer.
   

   Download special version of Software Installer (1MB)

3. Extract the application silently by typing the following command from the directory where the file resides:
   7APM22WW /S
4. Install the application silently: Type the following command line:
   C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SWINST\SETUP.EXE /S
   

Notes:

• These commands may be added to a batch file to automate the process.
• SETUP.EXE also supports a /O parameter that can be used in combination with /S to automatically launch the application after install. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SWINST\SETUP.EXE /S /o
• For unattended command line installation of packages and updates, enter the following at the command line:
  execute _tpiu000.exe /T
  The paramter is case sensitive. You must be connected to the Internet to obtain the packages and updates.
  
  

1. Click Start, select Programs, select ThinkVantage, and then click Software Installer.
2. The welcome screen appears and the version is displayed at the bottom right corner of the panel.
   
   

• This program may not display the versions of the packages which are installed not using the ThinkPad Software Installer.
  
• The Intel SpeedStep Technology Applet is assumed to be installed manually. Automatic installation is not supported for the program.
  
• To install DVD Player, DVD drive must be attached to your ThinkPad system.
