Ethernet (Intel PRO 1000 LAN Adapter Software) for Windows XP, 2000 - ThinkPad R40, R50, R50e, R50p, R51, T40, T40p, X31

This package installs the software (Ethernet driver) to enable the following devices.
- Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection (10/100 Ethernet) - Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection (Giganet Ethernet)
This package also installs Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager which is an extension to the Windows Device Manager.
After the Intel PROSet software is installed, additional tabs are automatically added to Device Manager.
This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad R40(*1) - ThinkPad R50(*1)/R50e/R50p(*1)/R51(*1) - ThinkPad T40/T40p - ThinkPad X31(*1)
Note: *1: Supports the models with Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection adapter (10/100 Ethernet) only. |

Notes:
- Before upgrading Intel PROSet, you have to uninstall the current PROSet that is installed on your ThinkPad.
- Extract this package onto your hard drive.
- Start Windows 2000.
- Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Hardware tab.
- Click Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters category.

Right-click one of the following devices in Network adapters and click Properties.
- Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection
- Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click Update Driver...
- Click Next in the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
- Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended).
- Click Next.
- Select Specify a location only in Optional search locations:.
- Click Next.

Specify the path to one of the following directories in the Copy manufacturer's files from: field.
- Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection C:\Drivers\WIN\Ethernet\PRO100\WIN2K
- Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection C:\Drivers\WIN\Ethernet\PRO1000\WIN2K
- Click OK.
- Click Next. The driver installation starts.
- Click Finish when the installation completes.
- Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
Note: For the clean install instructions, refer to 1urc13ww.txt.
- Extract this package onto your hard drive.
- Start Windows XP.
- Click Start, then click Control Panel.
- Click Performance and Maintenance, then click System.
- Click the Hardware tab.
- Click Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters category.
- Right-click one of the following devices in Network adapters and click Properties.
"Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection" or "Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection"
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click Update Driver...
- Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).
- Click Next in "Hardware Upgrade Wizard" dialog box.
- Select Search for the best driver in these locations and Include this location in the search: only.
- Specify the path to one of the following sub-directories with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 1 in "Include this location in the search:". "PRO100\WS03XP32" (for "Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection") "PRO1000\WS03XP32" (for "Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection")
- Click Next. The driver installation starts.
- Click Finish when the installation completes.
- Click Close.
Note: For the clean install instructions, refer to 1urc13ww.txt.
- Execute PROSet.exe in the following folder: \APPS\PROSet\W2KWS03
- Click Next.
- Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
- Select Typical and click Next.
- Click Install.
- Click Finish.
For customers who need unattended installation, the following DOS drivers are included in another package (1URDxxWW package), a link is provide below:

- E100B.DOS for Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection
- E1000.DOS for Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection
Unattended installation instructions are also included in APPS\SETUP\PUSH. The DOS driver can be used only for this purpose.

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system:
- Right-click the My Computer icon.
- Click Find or Search.
- Type one of the NDIS driver names in Named: field. For example, if you are using Windows 2000, type E100bnt5.sys in the field.
- Click the Find Now or Search Now button. It lists the NDIS driver(s). If it does not list the NDIS driver, the Ethernet device driver is not installed in your system.
- Right-click the NDIS driver that is found in the Windows folder.
- Click Properties.
- Click the Version tab.
- Click Product Version in the Items name: field.
