This package provides the Ethernet driver for DOS. The Ethernet driver enables or updates the Ethernet function of the following adapters on the following ThinkPad computers. - Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection (10/100 Ethernet) - Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection (Gigabit Ethernet)
This release supports the following IBM system:
- ThinkPad R40 (10/100 Ethernet) - ThinkPad R50(*2), R50e(*2), R50p(*2), R51(*2) - ThinkPad T40, T41, T41p, T42 - ThinkPad T40p, T42p (*2) - ThinkPad X31(*2), X32 (*2) - ThinkPad X40(*2)
Notes: - *2: OS/2 is not supported. - The DOS driver is included only for unattended installation purpose. |

Unattended Installation
For customers who need unattended installation, the following DOS drivers are included in this package:
- E100B.DOS in PRO100\DOS sub-directory for Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection
- E1000.DOS in PRO1000\DOS sub-directory for Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection
Note: The DOS driver can be used only for this purpose.
The OS/2 device drivers are located in the following folders:
- PRO100\OS2 for Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection
- PRO1000\OS2 for Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection
- Double-click the OS/2 System icon on the desktop.
- Double-click the System Setup icon.
- Double-click the MPTS Network Adapters and Protocol Services icon.
- Click the Configure button in Multi-Protocol Transport Services.
- Confirm that LAN adapters and protocols is selected and click the Configure button.
- Click the Other adapters... button.
- Type the path to one of the following sub-directories with the full path name and click the OK button.

- \PRO1000\OS2 (Gigabit Ethernet)
- Select one of the following Ethernet adapters in Network Adapters per your Ethernet device.

- Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection (Gigabit Ethernet)
- Click the Change button.
- Click the Yes button in Change Network Adapter.
- Click the OK button to close Adapters and Protocol Configuration.
- Click the Close button to close Configure.
- Click Exit to close Multi-Protocol Transport Services.
- Confirm that Update CONFIG.SYS is selected and click Exit.
- A messaging stating "CONFIG.SYS Updated" will be displayed and then click the OK button.
- Click the Exit button to exit MPTS.
- Reboot the system.
- Double-click the OS/2 System icon on the desktop.
- Double-click the System Setup icon.
- Double-click the MPTS Network Adapters and Protocol Services icon.
- Click the Configure button on Multi-Protocol Transport Services.
- Confirm that LAN adapters and protocols is selected and click the Configure button.
- Click the Other adapters... button.
- Type the path to one of the following sub-directories with the full path name and click the OK button.

- Click the Add button.
- Add Protocols as required for your network.
- Click the OK button to close Adapters and Protocol Configuration.
- Click the Close button to close Configure.
- Click Exit to close Multi-Protocol Transport Services.
- Confirm that Update CONFIG.SYS is selected and then click Exit.
- A messaging stating "CONFIG.SYS Updated" will be displayed and then click the OK button.
- Click the Exit button to exit MPTS.
- Reboot the system.

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system, follow the instructions below:
- Find the file E100b.dos (10/100 Ethernet) or e1000.dos (Gigabit Ethernet).
- To determine if driver update is needed, check the date of the driver file. If the date is older than the date below, then you need to update your driver.

- 08/08/2003 (Gigabit Ethernet)
- Find the file E100BODI.COM (10/100 Ethernet) or e1000odi.com (Gigabit Ethernet).
- Execute it in DOS environment, it shows the following version information.

- Intel(R) PRO/100 Network Connection Driver v4.48 041103 (10/100 Ethernet)
- Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connections Driver v3.46 080803 (Gigabit Ethernet)
While the OS is booting and after OS/2 WARP logo screen, you can see one of the following lines in text mode:
- Intel(R) PRO/100 Network Connection Driver v4.48 041103 (10/100 Ethernet)
- Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connections Driver v3.46 080803 (Gigabit Ethernet)
