For Microsoft Windows users:
  1. Start Windows.
  2. Save this file onto the hard drive.
  3. Start your CD-R/RW writing software's feature for creating a CD from an ISO image. Refer to the help provided with your CD-R/RW writing software for further assistance.

  5. Create the CD.

For SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 users:

  1. Begin from the SUSE Linux desktop.
  2. Save the PC Doctor ISO file onto the hard drive using your web browser. It is recommended to save the file to either your home directory or the desktop.
  3. Right-click the ISO file you saved and choose "Open with K3b". This will open the Burn CD Image window.
  4. Click start, and allow process to complete.

Diagnostics procedure
For all users:
  1. Turn off the system.
  2. Make sure the CD-ROM/DVD drive which is supported as a startup device for your ThinkPad is attached to the system.
  3. Turn on the system.
  4. While either of the following messages is displayed at the lower left area of the screen, press the F12 key to display the boot menu:
    • To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button or the enter key.
Press F12 to choose temporary boot device
    • Press F1 for BIOS Setup Utility
Press F11 to invoke the Product Recovery program
Press F12 to choose temporary boot device

Note: If a password prompt appears, type in the correct password.

  1. Insert the PC-Doctor DOS CD into the CD-ROM/DVD drive.
  2. Press the cursor keys to select either of the following devices, and press the Enter to start PC Doctor for DOS:
    • ATAPI CDx (x: 0, 1, ...)
    • CD-ROM Drive
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  4. After performing the diagnostics, remove the CD from the CD-ROM/DVD drive and turn off the system.

Determining which version is installed
  1. Run PC-Doctor DOS.
  2. Select the Quit menu by keyboard or mouse.
  3. Select About to view the version number.

Note: This version information does not show minor version. For example, the version 2.0.651a shows version 2.0.651.

Known limitations
  1. The Intel Wireless Radio test may return FAILED if the security function is enabled in the access point.
  2. The Fixed Disks test may return FAILED against Disk 0 but this is not an actual device failure because the CD is used as a virtual hard drive.
  3. To test the CD-ROM or DVD on ThinkPad A30 or A30p, use diskette version instead of this CD.
