Winbond (National Semiconductor) TPM (Trusted Platform Module) Device for Windows 2000, XP, Vista (32bit) - ThinkPad R52, T43/p

This package provides the TPM driver for Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, and Vista (32bit).

The TPM driver enables or updates the TPM functions on the following ThinkPad computers:

- ThinkPad R52
- ThinkPad T43
- ThinkPad T43p

Note: This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

Installation instructions
Windows 2000
Update Install
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:
  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager.
  5. Expand the System devices category and right click NSC TPM Device or NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1 or Winbond Trusted Platform Module 1.1 in System devices and click Properties.
  6. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, then click Next.
  7. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device then click Next.
  8. Select Specify a location only, then click Next.
  9. Click Browse, locate the driver, then click Open.
  10. Click OK, click Next, then click Finish.

Clean Install (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If it is the first time to boot Windows 2000, the OS detects the "TPM Device" automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below:

  1. Start Windows 2000. The Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box will appear.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device, then click Next.
  4. Select Specify a location only, then click Next.
  5. Click Browse, locate the driver, then click Open.
  6. Click OK, click Next, then click Finish.

Clean Install (Unknown device in other or System devices)
Windows 2000 detected the "TPM Device", but was not able to locate the suitable device driver. In this case, you will see "Unknown device" in "Other devices" or "System devices" category in the Device Manager. To install the driver, follow the instructions below:

  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Hardware tab then click Device Manager.
  5. Right-click Unknown device in Other devices or System devices and click Properties.
  6. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, then click Next.
  7. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device then click Next.
  8. Select Specify a location only then click Next.
  9. Click Browse, locate the driver, and click Open.
  10. Click OK, click Next, then click Finish.

Windows XP
Update Install
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:
  1. Start Windows XP.
  2. Click Start then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Performance and Maintenance and then click the System icon.
  4. Click the Hardware tab then click Device Manager.
  5. Expand the System devices category.
  6. Right click NSC TPM Device or NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1 or Winbond Trusted Platform Module 1.1 in System devices then click Properties.
  7. Click the Driver tab then click Update Driver.
  8. Select No, not this time and click Next.
  9. Select Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
  10. Select Search for the best driver in these locations and Include this location in the search only.
  11. Click Browse, locate the driver, and OK.
  12. Click Next then click Finish.

  10. Click Browse, locate the driver, then click OK.
  11. Click Next then click Finish.

Windows Vista 32bit
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TPM.
  3. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  4. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
  5. Click Device Manager.
  6. Expand the System devices category.
  7. Right-click NSC TPM Device, NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1 or Winbond Trusted Platform Module 1.1 and then select Update Driver Software...
  8. Click Browse my computer for driver software
  9. Click Browse... and specify the full path where you extracted the driver package in step 2.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TPM
  10. Confirm Include subfolders is selected and click Next.
  11. Click Close when the installation is completed.

Clean install

  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.

  5. Click Device Manager.
  6. Expand the Other devices category.
  7. Right-click Unknown device and then select Update Driver Software...
  8. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
  9. Click Browse... and specify the full path where you extracted the driver package in step 2.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\TPM
  10. Confirm Include subfolders is selected and click Next.
  11. Click Close when the installation is completed.

 

Determining which version is installed
To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system, follow the instructions below:


Windows 2000, XP
  1. Open Device Manager, expand the System devices category, and open NSC TPM Device.
  2. Click the Driver tab and check the Driver Version.

 

Windows Vista 32bit
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Click System and Maintenance, then click System.
  4. Click Device Manager.
  5. Expand the System Devices category.
  6. Double-click NSC TPM Device, NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1 or Winbond Trusted Platform Module 1.1.
  7. Click the Driver tab to display the driver version.
