This package provides the Modem driver for the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit, 64-bit
- Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Professional
- Microsoft Windows 2000

The modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of ThinkPad Modem of the following computers:
- ThinkPad R60, R60e
- ThinkPad R61(*1), R61i (*2)
- ThinkPad T60, T60p, T61, T61p
- ThinkPad X60, X60s, X60 Tablet, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet
- ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t
- ThinkPad Reserve Edition

Installation instructions
Notes:


Windows Vista
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\HDAMODEM.
  3. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run.
  4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\HDAMODEM\SETUP.EXE
  5. In the Device Driver Installation Wizard window, click OK. The device driver will be installed automatically.
  6. The NetWaiting program installation starts automatically.
    1. In the "Welcome to..." window, click Next.
    2. In the "License Agreement" window, read the contents carefully and click Yes.
    3. In the "Choose Destination Location" window, click Next.
    4. In the "Select Program Folder" window, click Next.
    5. When the installation completes, click Finish.
  7. Digital Line Detection program installation starts automatically.
    1. In the "Welcome to..." window, click Next.
    2. In the "License Agreement" window, read the contents carefully and click Yes.
    3. In the "Select Program Folder" window, click Next.
    4. When the installation completes, click Finish.
  8. When the driver installation result is shown, click OK to finish the installation.
  9. If needed, restart the system.

Notes:

  • During installation, the following dialogs may appear because of the Windows Security of Vista. Choose Install to proceed with the Installation.
    • Windows Security - Would you like to install this device software? You should only install drivers software from publishers you trust.
    • Windows Security - Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software -
  • During installation, the following dialogs may appear because of the User Account Control of Vista. click Continue or Allow to proceed with the installation.
    • A program needs your permission to continue If you started this program, continue.
    • An unidentified program wants access to your computer Don't run the program unless you know where it's from or you've used it before.


Windows 2000/XP
  1. Start Windows XP or Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\HDAMODEM.
  3. Click the Start button, then click Run.
  4. Specify the SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\HDAMODEM\Setup.exe
  5. In the Device Driver Installation Wizard window, click OK.
  6. The device driver will be installed automatically. If the message, "Digital Signature Not Found" appears, click the OK button to continue installing.
  7. The NetWaiting program installation starts automatically.
    1. In the "Welcome to..." window, click Next.
    2. In the "License Agreement" window, read the contents carefully and click Yes.
    3. In the "Choose Destination Location" window, click Next.
    4. In the "Select Program Folder" window, click Next.
    5. When the installation completes, click Finish.
  8. Digital Line Detection program installation starts automatically.
    1. In the "Welcome to..." window, click Next.
    2. In the "License Agreement" window, read the contents carefully and click Yes.
    3. In the "Select Program Folder" window, click Next.
    4. When the installation completes, click Finish.
  9. When the driver installation result is shown, click OK to finish the installation.
  10. If needed, restart the system.

Unattended install
This is for system administrators use only.
  1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start , then click All Programs.
  3. Click Accessories, then click Command Prompt.
  4. At the command line, execute setup.exe with the '-s' option.
    Example: Setup.exe -s


Uninstall instructions
Windows Vista
  1. Start Windows and Logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Programs, click Programs and Features, then select ThinkPad Modem.
  4. Click the Uninstall/Change button. If User Account Control warning pop-up open, click Continue. The device driver will be uninstalled automatically.
  5. The NetWaiting software uninstall will start automatically. In the "Confirm Uninstall" window, click OK.
  6. The Digital Line Detect software uninstall will start automatically. In the "Confirm Uninstall" window, click OK.
  7. If needed, restart the system.


Windows 2000/XP
  1. Start Windows and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Clicking Start, select Control Panel, then select Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Select ThinkPad Modem.
  4. Click the Change/Remove button. The device driver will be uninstalled automatically.
  5. The NetWaiting software uninstall will start automatically. In the "Confirm Uninstall" window, click OK.
  6. The Digital Line Detect software uninstall will start automatically. In the "Confirm Uninstall" window, click OK.
  7. If needed, restart the system.

Determining which version is installed
If you used Software Installer to install this driver, the following procedure can be used to verify the version number:
  1. Click Start, Programs, Access IBM and then Software Installer.
  2. In the Software Installer window, select View driver or application version information and click Next button.
  3. Check the version of the ThinkPad Modem for Windows xx, where xx is either 2000/XP.

You can also check the modem driver version by the following procedure:

Windows Vista
  1. Start Windows Vista.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel, click System and Maintenance, then click System.
  3. Click Device Manager. If User Account Control warning pop-up open, click Continue
  4. Double-click Modems.
  5. Double-click ThinkPad Modem.
  6. Click the Diagnostics tab.
  7. Click the Query Modem button.
  8. Check the information for ATI3.

Windows 2000/XP
  1. Start Windows 2000/XP
  2. Right-click My Computer, select Properties from the pop-up menu.
  3. Click the Hardware tab, then select Device Manager.
  4. Double-click Modems.
  5. Double-click ThinkPad Modem.
  6. Click the Diagnostics tab.
  7. Click the Query Modem button.
  8. Check the information for ATI3.

Using Modem on Hold and Fast Connect
Notes:
  • To use these functions, you have to use telephone line that has the Call waiting function and the Caller ID function, which each country or region sets independently. And you also have to Connect to an ISP access point that is compatible with these function. Check with your ISP.
  • The Modem on Hold (MoH) function has been tested and shown to work in the United States and Canada. It may not work correctly in other countries.
  • Fast Connect function works well if you dial to the same phone number from only one place. Otherwise, it is better to disable Fast Connect function.
  • To use Modem on hold and Fast Connect function, you have to run Modem on Hold application first and enable each function by following procedure:
    1. Click Start, select All Programs, select NetWaiting and then click NetWaiting.
    2. Right click the NetWaiting icon in the task tray and then click Setting.
    3. Check the Modem on Hold setting and close it.
