AMD Graphic Driver for Windows Vista - ThinkPad L410, L510, SL410, SL510

This package installs the software (display and audio drivers) to enable the following devices:
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series
- ATI HDMI Audio

The following ThinkPad systems are supported:
- ThinkPad L410, L510
- ThinkPad SL410, SL510

The following Operating Systems are supported:
- Windows Vista 32bit
- Windows Vista 64bit

Note:
*1 Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 is supported.

Summary of changes

Installation instructions

Note: If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.

Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

Downloading file

  1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click the Save button.
  4. Choose the directory you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

Extracting files

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Locate the directory where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
  6. In the Ready to Install window, click Install. The file will begin to extract all the necessary files to the folder specified in the step 9.

Installing files

  1. Make sure the checkbox next to Install ..... now is selected and click Finish.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. Select which language to display and click Next when the installation wizard is displayed.
  4. Select Express or Custom Install and set the installation location and then click Next. The default installation location is C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies.
  5. Click the Accept button when you finish reading the license agreement and decide to accept it.
  6. Click Finish to restart the computer.

Finally delete the file saved in the Downloading File Step 4.

Unattended Install
Note: This is for system administrators use only.
  1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and extract the files.
  2. In step 1 of the Installing files section, uncheck the checkbox next to Install ..... now, and then click Finish to cancel installation.
  3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with the -noui -INSTALL options. Example: [Path where the files were extracted]\setup -noui -INSTALL

Determining which version is installed

Display Driver:

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Maintenance.
  3. Click System.
  4. From the left pane, click Device Manager.
  5. Click the + sign in front of the Display adapters category.
  6. Double-click ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series.
  7. Click the Driver tab. Then you will see the driver version.

Audio Driver:

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Maintenance.
  3. Click System.
  4. From the left pane, click Device Manager.
  5. Click the + sign in front of the Sound, video and game controllers category.
  6. Double-click ATI HDMI Audio.
  7. Click the Driver tab. Then you will see the driver version.
