1. Start Windows 2000.
2. Extract this package onto your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\Win\ETHERNET.
3. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
4. Double-click the System icon.
5. Click the Hardware tab.
6. Click Device Manager...
7. Expand the Network adapters category.
8. Right-click Intel PRO/1000 PL Network Connection or Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection in Network adapters and click Properties.
9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click Update Driver...
11. Click Next in the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
12. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended).
13. Click Next.
14. Select Specify a location only under Optional search locations:.
15. Click Next.
16. Specify the path to the \PRO1000\Win32 sub-directory where you extracted the package in step 2.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\Win\ETHERNET\PRO1000\Win32
17. Click OK.
18. Click Next . The driver installation starts.
19. Click Finish when the installation completes.
20. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.

1. Start Windows XP, XP Tablet PC Edition 2005.
2. Extract this package onto your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\Win\ETHERNET.

4. Click Performance and Maintenance then double-click the System icon.
5. Click the Hardware tab.
6. Click Device Manager.
7. Expand the Network adapters category.
8. Right-click Intel PRO/1000 PL Network Connection or Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection under Network adapters and click Properties.
9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click Update Driver...
11. Select No, not this time and click Next.
12. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).
13. Click Next in the Hardware Upgrade Wizard dialog box.
14. Select Search for the best driver in these locations. and Include this location in the search: only.
15. Specify the path to the \PRO1000\Win32 sub-directory where you extracted the package in step 2.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\Win\ETHERNET\PRO1000\Win32
16. Click Next to start the driver installation.
17. Click Finish when the installation completes.
18. Click Close.

• You must have administrator rights to install or use Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager.
• If you have used prior versions of Intel PROSet, you should be aware of the following changes with Intel PROSet for Windows Device Manager:
  • There is no system tray icon.
  • The configuration utility is not accessible from the Control Panel or the Start menu.
  • All Intel PROSet features are now accessed from Device Manager. To access features, simply open the Device Manager and double-click the Intel adapter you would like to configure.

Installation Instructions

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Click Browse, select C:\Drivers\WIN\Ethernet\APPS\PROSETDX\2KXPWS03\DxSetup.exe, click Open, and then click OK.
3. Click Next.
4. Click Accept.
5. Click Next.
6. Click Install.
7. Click Close.

Ethernet driver for DOS

Unattended installation instructions are also included in C:\Drivers\WIN\Ethernet\APPS\SETUP\PUSH. The DOS driver can be used only for this purpose.

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system:

1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties
2. Click Hardware and click Device Manager.
3. Expand the Network adapters category.
4. Double-click Intel PRO/1000 PL Network Connection or Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection.
5. Click Driver. This will display the driver version.
