Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows Vista - ThinkPad

This package provides ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate software for Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit and Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit. ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software enables or updates the Bluetooth functions of the following ThinkPad systems integrated with Bluetooth.

This release supports Bluetooth on the following systems:

- ThinkPad R52 (*1)
- ThinkPad R60, R60e, R61, R61e, R61i
- ThinkPad T43 (*1), T43p (*1)
- ThinkPad T60, T60p, T61, T61p
- ThinkPad X32 (*1)
- ThinkPad X41 (*1)
- ThinkPad X41 Tablet (*1)
- ThinkPad X60, X60s, X61, X61s
- ThinkPad X60 Tablet(*2), X61 Tablet(*2)
- ThinkPad X300
- ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t
- ThinkPad Reserve Edition (*3)

*1: Does not support Enhanced Data Rate due to the Hardware restriction.
*2 Supports Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005.
*3 Only support Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.

Summary of changes

Version 6.1.0.4500

  • (Fix) An error message appears when canceling the 'Send to Bluetooth' operation from the Internet Explorer.
  • (Fix) An unnecessary device is detected when installing the Bluetooth software on Windows Vista 64-bit.

Version 6.1.0.2200

  • (New) Support for ThinkPad X300.
  • (New) Add following profiles:
    • Dun Wizard
    • BIP Client
    • HCRP Server.

  • (Fix) The problem with receiving information from Outlook.
  • (Fix) "Send To Bluetooth" does not appear in Outlook on Windows Vista 64-bit.
  • (Fix) The system sometimes becomes unstable when entering suspend/hibernate repeatedly.

  • (Fix) There may be no sound when using a ThinkPad system as a Bluetooth speaker.

Installation instructions
If you are running a previous version of ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software on your ThinkPad system, please uninstall it before installing this latest version.

Notes:
  • During the installation, please do not touch the keyboard, the TrackPoint, or the mouse.
  • ThinkVantage System Update provides install/uninstall wizard for this package.
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Press Fn and F5 at the same time to turn on Bluetooth.
  3. If "Found New Hardware Wizard" is displayed, click Cancel.
  4. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\TPBTooth
  5. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
  6. Specify "SETUP.EXE" with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 4, and click OK.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\TPBTooth\SETUP.EXE
  7. If a User Account Control pop-up opens, click Continue.
  8. In "Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software 6.1.0.4500" window, click Next.
  9. In the "License Agreement" window, read the License Agreement carefully, if you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
  10. In the Destination Folder window, click Next. (If you need to change the destination, click Change, select or enter the destination folder of your choice, then click Next.)
  11. In the "Ready to Install the Program" window, click Install.
  12. When "InstallShield Wizard Completed" window appears, click Finish.
  13. If you are asked to restart the system, click Yes to restart.

Unattended installation
Note: This is for system administrator's use only.
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\TPBTooth
  3. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
  4. Specify "SETUP.EXE /qn /ru /ri" with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 2, and click OK.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\TPBTooth\SETUP.EXE /qn /ru /ri
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Uninstall instructions
  1. Click Start, select Control Panel, click Uninstall Program.
  2. Select ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software and click Uninstall.
  3. From the prompt, "Are you sure you want to uninstall ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software 6.1.0.4500?" click Yes. Uninstallation will begin.
  4. When a User Account Control dialog box opens, click Allow to continue uninstallation.
  5. When a dialog box appears that requests the system be restarted, click OK to restart the system.

Determining which version is installed
  1. Click Start, select Control Panel, click Uninstall Program.
  2. Select ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software and click Uninstall.
  3. From the prompt, "Are you sure you want to uninstall ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software 6.1.0.4500?", make note of the version displayed in the dialog box.
  4. Click No to close the dialog box.
