This package enables or updates the Ethernet driver for Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit and Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit for the following integrated devices:

- Broadcom NetXtreme Fast Ethernet
- Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet
- Broadcom NetLink Fast Ethernet
- Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet

This release supports the following ThinkPad systems:
- ThinkPad G50
- ThinkPad R51e(*1), R52
- ThinkPad R60, R60e
- ThinkPad R61(*2), R61e, R61i(*3)
- ThinkPad T43, T43p
- ThinkPad X41, X41 Tablet
- ThinkPad Z60m, Z60t
- ThinkPad Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t

Note:
*1: Supports Fast Ethernet only.
*2: ThinkPad R61 that has the following Machine Types (M/T) are supported by this driver:
8930/8932/8933/8934/8935/8936/8937
8942/8943/8944/8945/8947/8948/8949
*3: ThinkPad R61i that has the following Machine Types (M/T) are supported by this driver:
7650/8932/8943

Windows Vista (32bit and 64bit)
Manual install
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Extract the package to the hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET.
  3. Click Start, then click All Programs.
  4. Click Accessories, then Run.
  5. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in the step 2, and click OK.
    Example:
    [Windows Vista 32-bit] C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\TOOLS\DRVINST\IA32\SETUP.EXE
    [Windows Vista 64-bit] C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\TOOLS\DRVINST\X64\SETUP.EXE
  6. Click Next.
  7. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Click Install.
  10. Click Finish, then reboot the system.
Broadcom Advanced Control Suite 2 (BACS2) Installation
Manual Install
  1. Start Windows Vista.
  2. Execute setup.exe in the following folder:
    • \BACS\IA32 (for Windows Vista 32-bit)
    • \BACS\x64 (for Windows Vista 64-bit)
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Click OK when the installation is completed.
  8. Click Finish.
Unattended Installation
This is for system administrators' use only.
  1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges.

  3. Click Start, then click All Programs.

  6. Follow the instructions on the screen, then reboot the system.

Unattended Installation with a XML-based Answer File
This is for system administrators' use only.

Unattended installation instructions are located at the following folders in this package.

Example:

  • [Windows Vista 32-bit] C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\TOOLS\UNATTEND\VISTA\IA32
  • [Windows Vista 64-bit] C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\TOOLS\UNATTEND\VISTA\X64

  1. Right-click My Computer and click Properties.
  2. Click Device Manager.
  3. Click the + sign in front of the Network adapters category.
  4. Double-click Broadcom NetXtreme Fast/NetLink Fast/Gigabit Ethernet.
  5. Click the Driver tab and the driver version is displayed.
