Presentation Director for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 - Notebooks

Presentation Director is a display configuration utility for your ThinkPad computer that enables you to create, manage, and use presentation and display schemes. You can access these schemes through an on-screen display menu that is shown when you press the Fn + F7 key combination on your keyboard (Fn+F7 on-screen function).

Installation instructions
Notes:
  • Before installing Presentation Director, it is required to install "Lenovo System Interface Driver" and an appropriate display driver for the target system. Refer to the README file of each software package for installing these software packages.
    • Lenovo System Interface Driver
      It is required to install "Lenovo System Interface Driver" to use Windows Vista.
    • Display Driver
      It is required to install an appropriate display driver for the target system which is provided by Lenovo. Presentation Director doesn't work with any inbox display driver in OS.
  • To enable Fn+F7 on-screen key function, it is also required to install the following packages:
  • Presentation Director doesn't support remote desktop environment and remote assistance environment.
  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.

Manual installation
  1. Start Windows Vista, XP, 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive.
    The default location is C:\DRIVERS\W2K\PDIRECT
  3. For Windows Vista, click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories then click Run....
    For Windows XP and 2000, click Start, then click Run...
  4. Specify SETUP.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 2, and click OK.
    EXAMPLE: C:\DRIVERS\W2K\PDIRECT\SETUP.EXE
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Unattended installation
Note: This is for system administrators' use only.
  1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and expand the files.
  2. At the command line, execute SETUP.EXE with the -S -SMS options.
    For example:
    C:\DRIVERS\W2K\PDIRECT\SETUP.EXE -S -SMS


Uninstallation instructions
Manual uninstall

[Windows Vista]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  3. Click Uninstall a program link of Programs icon. You will see "Uninstall or change a program window".
  4. Click Presentation Director, then click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Click Continue from the User Account Control.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen and then reboot the computer.

[Windows XP/2000]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
  2. Windows XP: Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    Windows 2000: Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Click Presentation Director, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  5. Select Remove or OK, then click Next or OK.
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen and then reboot the computer.
Determining which version is installed

[Windows Vista]

  1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program link of Programs icon. You will see "Uninstall or change a program window".
  3. Select Presentation Director.
  4. From the Organize menu, click Layout, then select Details Pane ("Details Pane" might be already selected). You will see the version information on the pane below.
  5. Close the "Uninstall or change a program window".

[Windows XP, 2000]

  1. For Windows XP:
    Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    Windows 2000:
    Click Start, select Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click Presentation Director, then click Change/Remove (or Add/Remove).
  4. Click Click here for support information link. You will see the version information on the screen.
  5. Close Add/Remove Programs.
