This package contains the following support modules.

- To detect and configure the INTEL GM965 Express Chipset and INTEL PM965 Express Chipset

The following systems are supported:
- ThinkPad R61, R61e, R61i
- ThinkPad T61, T61p
- ThinkPad X61, X61s, X61 Tablet, X300
- ThinkPad Reserve Edition

Notes:
- If you use the Product Recovery function shipped with your ThinkPad to restore the Windows preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows operating systems without the Product Recovery function.
- This program is based on the US version but, this is language independent and can be used with any language system.

Installation instructions
Install this program to reinitialize the INTEL chipset after every supplemental update to the base operating system.
  1. Start Windows Vista, XP, 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
  2. Close any running applications.
  3. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\INTELINF.
  4. For Windows Vista, Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
    For Windows XP, 2000, Click Start, then click Run...
  5. Specify INFINST_AUTOL.EXE with the full path name where you extracted the package in step 3, and click OK.
    Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\INTELINF\INFINST_AUTOL.EXE
    Note: For unattended installation, Run INFINST_AUTOL.EXE with the command line as follows: INFINST_AUTOL.EXE -a -s
  6. Follow the instructions on the screen.

How to extract Windows INF files prior to OS installation
  1. For Windows Vista, Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, then click Run...
    For Windows XP, 2000, Click Start, then click Run...
  2. In the Open field, type INFINST_AUTOL.EXE -a -a -p C:\INTEL.
  3. Click OK. The Setup Screen (INTEL Chipset Software Installation Utility) appears.
    Note: This stage runs the InstallShield program and does not extract the INF and CAT files.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Yes to Accept License Agreement.
  6. Click Next at the ReadMe Information screen. The progress bar shows the extract status. After reaching 100%, the INF and CAT files have been extracted in the C:\INTEL folder.
  7. Check the C:\INTEL folder. Some folders should be in C:\INTEL.
  8. The INF and CAT files can be used from the Windows Vista, XP, 2000 folders for installation.
  9. Use the C:\INTEL subdirectory.

Installing the Windows Vista, XP, 2000 INF files prior to OS installation
  1. Create the following directory structure under the Windows Setup Directory:
    \$OEM$\$$\INF
  2. Copy the Windows INF files from the the following folder to the directory created in Step 1.
    • Windows 2000: C:\INTEL\Win2000
    • Windows XP: C:\INTEL\XP
    • Windows Vista: C:\INTEL\Vista
  3. Create the following directory structure under the Windows Setup Directory:
    \$OEM$\$1\drivers\IntelINF
  4. Copy the Windows INF files and the catalog files (.CAT) from the folder listed in step 2 to the directory created in Step 3 above.
  5. Either modify the default Windows installation answer file, Unattended.txt, located in the Windows Setup Directory, or create a customized answer file. The answer file must include the following information:
    [Unattended]
    OemPreinstall = Yes
    OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\IntelINF"
  6. Run WINNT.EXE /u:answer file name /s:windows setup directory to install Windows.
