Determining which version is installed

Version - Build 185309 (9.12.41.1001)

• (Fix) Fixed an issue that might generate system hang with blue screen.

1. Extract this package onto your hard drive.
2. Start Windows 2000.
3. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
4. Double-click System icon.
5. Click Hardware tab.
6. Click Device Manager... .
7. Click the + to expand Network adapters.
8. Right-click one of the following devices in Network adapters and click Properties:

• Intel(R) 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection
• Intel(R) 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection
• Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection

9. Click Driver tab.
10. Click Update Driver... .
11. Click Next > in Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
12. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended).
13. Click Next >.
14. Select Specify a location only in Optional search locations:
15. Click Next >.
16. Specify the path to the following sub-directory with the full path name
    where you extracted the package in step 1 in Copy manufacturer's files from:
    PRO1000\Win32
17. Click OK.
18. Click Next >.
    The driver installation starts.
19. Click Finish when the installation completes.
20. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer..

Clean Install: (Found New Hardware Wizard)
If this is the first time to boot Windows 2000, the OS detects the Ethernet Controller automatically. To install the device driver, follow the instructions below.

1. Extract this package onto your hard drive.
2. Start Windows 2000. It displays the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box.
3. Click Next >.
4. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended).
5. Click Next >.
6. Select Specify a location only in Optional search locations:
7. Click Next >.
8. Specify the path to the following sub-directory with the full path name
   where you extracted the package in step 1 in Copy manufacturer's files from:
   PRO1000\Win32
9. Click OK.
10. Click Next >.
    The driver installation starts.
11. Click Finish when the installation completes.
12. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.

Clean Install: (Ethernet Controller in Other devices)
Windows 2000 detected the Ethernet Controller, but was not able to find the correct device driver. In this case, you will see Ethernet Controller in Other devices in Device Manager. To install the driver, follow the instructions below.

1. Extract this package onto your hard drive.
2. Start Windows 2000.
3. Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.
4. Double-click System icon.
5. Click Hardware tab.
6. Click Device Manager.
7. Right-click Ethernet Controller in Other devices and click Properties.
8. Click Driver tab.
9. Click Update Driver... .
10. Click Next > in Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box.
11. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended).
12. Click Next >.
13. Select Specify a location only in Optional search locations:
14. Click Next >.
15. Specify the path to the following sub-directory with the full path name
    where you extracted the package in step 1 in Copy manufacturer's files from:

16. Click OK.

Update Install - Windows XP

1. Extract this package onto your hard drive.
2. Start Windows XP.
3. Click Start, and click Control Panel.
4. Click Performance and Maintenance and System icon.
5. Click Hardware tab.
6. Click Device Manager.
7. Click the + to expand Network adapters.
8. Right-click one of the following devices in Network adapters and click Properties:

• Intel(R) 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection
• Intel(R) 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection
• Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection

9. Click Driver tab.
10. Click Update Driver... .
11. Select No, not this time and click Next >.
12. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
13. Click Next > in Hardware Upgrade Wizard dialog box.
14. Select Search for a the best driver in these locations and Include this location in the search: only.
15. Specify the path to the following sub-directory with the full path name
    where you extracted the package in step 1 in Include this location in the search:
    PRO1000\Win32
16. Click Next >.
    The driver installation starts.
    
17. Click Finish when the installation completes.
18. Click Close.

3. Click the + sign in front of the Network adapters type to open
   the all devices in that type
4. Double-click one of the following devices:

• Intel(R) 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection

• Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection

5. Click the Driver tab and the driver version is displayed
