- Before upgrading Intel PROSet, you have to uninstall the current PROSet that is installed on your ThinkPad.
UPDATE INSTALL:
To update the driver, follow the instructions below:
- Start Windows XP.
- Extract this package onto your hard drive.
- Click Start, select Run.
- Click Browse, and specify SetupBD.exe with the full path name where you extracted the package and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\APPS\SETUP\SETUPBD\Win32\SetupBD.exe.
- Click OK.
- Click OK, then the driver installation starts.
- Click Close.
CLEAN INSTALL: (Found New Hardware Wizard) If this is the first time to boot Windows XP, the OS detects the Ethernet Controller automatically.
To install the device driver, follow the instructions below.
- Start Windows XP.
- Extract this package onto your hard drive.
- It displays "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
- Select "No, not this time" and click Next.
- Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)".
- Click Next in "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
- Select "Search for the best driver in these locations." and "Include this location in the search:" only.
- Click Browse button.
- Point the following driver folder, \PRO1000\Win32
- Click OK.
- Click Next, then the driver installation starts.
- Click Finish when the installation completes.
CLEAN INSTALL: (Ethernet Controller in Other devices)
Windows XP detected the "Ethernet Controller", but was not able to find the correct device driver. In this case, you will see "Ethernet Controller" in "Other devices" in "Device Manager". To install the driver, follow the instructions below.
- Start Windows XP.
- Extract this package onto your hard drive.
- Click Start, select Run.
- Click Browse, and specify SetupBD.exe with the full path name where you extracted the package and click OK. Example: C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET\APPS\SETUP\SETUPBD\Win32\SetupBD.exe.
- Click Open, and click OK.
- Click OK, then installation will start.
- Click Close button.
- Make sure to be logged on with administrative privileges.
- Click Start, select Run.
- Click Browse, and specify DxSetup.exe with the full path name where you extracted the package and click OK. \APPS\PROSETDX\Win32\DxSetup.exe
- Click Next.
- Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
- Click Next.
- Click Install.
- Click Finish.

To check the version of the device driver that is installed on your system:
- Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
- Click the "+" sign in front of the Network adapters type to open the all devices in that type.

Double-click one of the following devices;
- Intel 82567LM Gigabit Network Connection
- Intel 82567LF Gigabit Network Connection
- Click the Driver tab and the driver version is displayed.
