- Click Start, point to My Computer, right-click and select Properties.
- Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
- Open the Display Device and right-click at ATI MOBILITY RADEONxxxx.
- Select Disable from menu.
- The system will reboot. An ATI control panel related message may come up.
- Run the firmware update utility in VGA mode.
- After the firmware update completes, reboot the ThinkPad.
- Repeat steps 1 - 3.
- At step 4, select Enable and reboot.
Non-diskette instructions

- You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program.
- If your computer is attached to any kind of docking station or port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding.

- Print these instructions or display them on another computer.
- Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
- Start a supported version of Windows on the target computer.
