Windows 95 installation supplement files II - ThinkPad 380XD, 380Z, 385XD, 560X/Z
Applicable countries and regions
ThinkPad 380XD-380Z-385XD-560X-560Z incorporate several new devices that were not available when Windows 95 were announced.

This diskette provides the new hardware support and some fix files for Windows 95 users.

The following IBM systems are supported:
- ThinkPad 380XD, 385XD, 380Z
- ThinkPad 560X, 560Z

Installation Guide

How to install Windows 95 OEM Service Release 0, OEM Service Release 1

  1. Copy all the cabinet files and installation programs to your hard disk.
  2. Make a temporary directory (for instance, C:\WIN95) and make sure enough harddisk space is available to store the cabinet files and installation programs (the required free space vary depending on the language of Windows 95).
  3. Copy all the cabinet (.CAB) files and installation programs from \WIN95 directory of Windows 95 retail CD.

    Type COPY src_cd:\WIN95\*.* tgt_drv:\tgt_dir and press Enter.
    • src_cd: Drive letter of CD-ROM drive (e.g. C, D,..)
    • tgt_drv:\tgt_dir: Drive letter and temporary directory made in 2. (e.g. C:\WIN95)

  4. Copy updated files from Windows 95 supplement file diskette to the temporary directory.
  5. Insert Windows 95 supplement file diskette into a floppy drive.
  6. Type COPY a:\OSR0INF\*.* tgt_drv:\tgt_dir and press enter.

    tgt_drv:\tgt_dir : Drive letter and temporary directory made in 1-1 (e.g. C:\WIN95)

  7. Start Installation from the temporary directory.
  8. Run SETUP.EXE in the temporary directory.
    3-2. Refer to the Windows 95 documentation and instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

  9. If needed, apply Windows 95 Service Pack 1 available from Microsoft Internet home page.

  10. If needed, remove all the files in the temporary directory and the directory itself after installation is completed to save the hard disk free space.


How to install Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2) and OEM Service Release 2.1 (OSR2.1)

  1. Copy all the cabinet files and installation programs to your hard disk.
  2. Make a temporary directory (for instance, C:\WIN95) and make sure enough harddisk space is available to store the cabinet files and installation programs (the required free space vary depending on the language of Windows 95).
  3. Copy all the cabinet (.CAB) files and installation programs from \WIN95 directory of Windows 95 OSR2 CD.
  4. Type COPY src_cd:\WIN95\*.* tgt_drv:\tgt_dir and press Enter.

    • src_cd: Drive letter of CD-ROM drive (e.g. C, D,..)
    • tgt_drv:\tgt_dir : Drive letter and temporary directory made in 2. (e.g. C:\WIN95)

  5. Copy updated files from Windows 95 supplement file diskette to the temporary directory.
  6. Insert Windows 95 supplement file diskette into a floppy drive.
  7. Type COPY a:\OSR2INF\*.* tgt_drv:\tgt_dir and press enter.
  8. Type COPY a:\CARDBUS\*.* tgt_drv:\tgt_dir and press enter.

    tgt_drv:\tgt_dir : Drive letter and temporary directory made in 2. (e.g. C:\WIN95)

  9. Start Installation from the temporary directory.
  10. Run SETUP.EXE in the temporary directory.
  11. Refer to the Windows 95 documentation and instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

    Next step is to install some fix modules on Windows 95 OSR2.

  12. Install PC Card driver fix.
  13. Insert Windows 95 supplement file diskette into a floppy drive.
  14. Run A:\QFE444\PCCARDUP.EXE.
  15. Reboot the system.
  16. Replace Unimodem drivers to support Intel Video Phone application.
  17. Insert Windows 95 supplement file diskette into a floppy drive.
  18. From the command prompt, go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (or SYSTEM subdirectory under the directory where Windows 95 installed).
  19. Rename a couple of files as follows.
    Type REN UNIMODEM.VXD UNIMODEM.BAK and press ENTER.
    Type REN UNIMDM.TSP UNIMDM.BAK and press ENTER.
  20. Copy new files as follows.
    Type COPY A:\UNIMODEM\*.*

    The last step is to install OSR 2.1. To install the OSR2.1, refer to its documentation.


National Language Support
Only some drivers will be available in other languages. If you do not see a listing like this for additional languages, then that driver is available in English only. The English driver will work in ALL countries. This driver is available in the following language format. (NOTE: If the version numbers below do not match the version number given above, then the updated driver listed above is available in ENGLISH only!):

German(GR) (v1.02) - Disk1
