These registry patches include the followings .
+ (Fix-1)Fix for enumerating Intel 82371AB(PIIX4) correctly When the user installs Windows 98 in APM mode, PIIX4 is enumerated by both PnP BIOS and Windows 98. So Error message appears in the device manager. This registry patch cleans up this error.
+ (Fix-2)Fix for System does not to go to suspend when the system is docked into IBM SelectaDock-III or system does not go to suspend when the PCMCIA modem card is inserted in the PC card slot while your modem application is opening the modem port.

II. Installation instructions
 
Applying the Registry Patch Fix-1
This Fix-1 is only for users with Windows 98/98SE already installed or who plan on upgrading to Windows 98/98 on the following ThinkPad systems in APM mode:
- ThinkPad 600, 600E, 760E, 760ED, 760EL, 760ELD, 760XD, 760XL, 765D, 765L, 770, 770E, 770ED, 770X, 770Z
 
NOTE: For Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2 users, do the following steps BEFORE upgrading to Windows 98/98SE. Once the patch is installed, start the Windows 98/98SE upgrade process.

  1. Boot the system.
  2. Insert the Windows 98 Supplement File Diskette into diskette drive.
  3. Click Start, and then click Run. This will open the Run window.
  4. Type A:\PIXX4\APM2APM\APM2APM.regand click the OK button. This display the following window: Registry Editor - Are you sure you want to add the information A:\PIXX4\apm2apm\apm2apm.reg to the registry?
  5. Click the Yes button. A successful window message is displayed.
  6. Click the OK button.

Applying the Registry Patch Fix-2
This Fix-2 fixes the following problems:
- System will not go into suspend mode while on a docking station.
- System will not go into suspend mode while using a PCMCIA modem card.
 
This Fix-2 is only for the following users.
- Windows 98/98SE installed on the following systems: ThinkPad 600, 760E, 760ED, 760EL, 760ELD, 760XD, 760XL, 765D, 765L, 770, 770E, 770ED.

  1. Start the system.
  2. Insert the Windows 98 Supplement File Diskette into diskette drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run. This will open the Run window.
  4. Type A:\DOCKSUSP\DOCKSUSP.reg and click the OK button. The following window will be displayed: Registry Editor - Are you sure you want to add the information A:\DOCKSUSP\DOCKSUSP.reg to the registry ?
  5. Click the Yes button. A successful window message is displayed.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. Restart the system.

After this fix is applied, you can make the system suspend without turning off the power to the docking station or if you use a PCMCIA modem card, teh system goes into full suspend.

Update support in the Monitor.inf for 1280x1024 resolution on LCD panel

This Fix is only for the ThinkPad 770X with SXGA panel only.

  1. Start Windows 98/98SE.
  2. Click Start, point to Programs, and click MS-DOS Prompt.
  3. Insert Windows 98 Supplement Diskette into a floppy Drive.
  4. At command prompt type the following COPY A:\RTMINF\MONITOR.INF C:\WINDOWS\INF, and press the enter key
  5. If asked to overwrite the file, select Y and press Enter.
  6. Type EXIT and press enter to close the command prompt window.
  7. Shutdown and restart the system.

Update Unimodem drivers
This fix is for users with Windows 98 in APM mode on the following systems:
- ThinkPad 760C, 760CD, 760E, 760ED, 760XD, 765D with the Mwave chipset
- ThinkPad 600, 600E, 770, 770ED, 770X with the internal ACP Modem

  1. Start Windows 98/98SE.
  2. Insert Windows 98 Supplement File Diskette into a floppy drive.
  3. Click Start, point to Programs, and click MS-DOS Prompt.
  4. From the command prompt, go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM (or SYSTEM subdirectory under the directory where Windows 98/98SE installed)
  5. Rename the following files:
    Type REN UNIMODEM.VXD UNIMODEM.BAK and press Enter
    Type "REN UNIMDM.TSP UNIMDM.BAK" and press Enter 
  6. Copy new files as follows.
    Type COPY A:\MSQFE\UNIMODEM.VXD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and press Enter
    Type COPY A:\MSQFE\UNIMDM.TSP C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and press Enter
  7. Copy VCOMM.VXD
    Type COPY A:\MSQFE\VCOMM.VXD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32 and press Enter
  8. Reboot the computer.
