BIOS Update I (Diskette) - ThinkPad 1400, 1500 (2611)
Applicable countries and regions
The BIOS Update enhances certain ThinkPad systems to address operational issues, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below.

Only the following Model and Type numbers are supported:
- ThinkPad i Series 1400 - 2611 - 434, 435, (41x except 412), (45x except 452 and 456)

Notes:
- Your machine type is located on the bottom of your system, just above the bar code symbol.
- This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.
- See the Additional Information section for instructions on downloading, creating, and installing the BIOS Update diskette.
- See the bottom of this page for links to previous BIOS releases.

I. Summary of changes

II. Installation instructions
Note: You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program.

  1. Print these instructions or display them on another computer.
  2. Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
  3. Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and power on the computer.
  4. When prompted press the 1 key to update the system program.

    Attention:
    Do not turn off the computer until the update has been completed. If you turn off the computer while the update is still in progress, the system board may have to be replaced.

After the BIOS update, perform these steps to make the changes effective:

  1. Power on the computer, and then press and hold the F1 key until the BIOS Utility menu appears.
  2. If the computer presents a password prompt type in the correct password.
  3. Select Load Default Settings and then press Enter.
  4. Select Yes and then press Enter.
  5. Press Esc, then select Yes. Press Enter to restart computer.
