Video driver (NM2160) for Windows 95/98 - ThinkPad 240

This package provides the display driver for Windows 95-98 users.
The display driver enables or updates the display function of the following ThinkPad computer:

- (Fix) Icons on the tool bar in some application programs may become corrupted.

- The LCD screen image may be distorted when the system resumes from the suspend mode in 1024x768-16bit screen mode.
- In Windows 95, the system hangs when running Microsoft Access 97 and you use the Document Page Setup function.
- Characters may have missing pixels in Notepad.
- After you switch from an external monitor back to the LCD panel with FN+F7, the desktop is not displayed correctly after you type "exit" from a MS-DOS command prompt.
- Slide shows are not shown smoothly in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- The screen image is distorted or color is incorrect in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Installation Guide
HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED:
(Windows 98 and Windows 95 OSR2 (OEM Service Release 2))
1. Start Windows 95/98.
2. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
3. Open the Display icon.
4. Click on the 'Setting' tab.
5. Click on the 'Advanced (Properties)...' button.
6. Click on the 'Adapter' tab.
The version is displayed in the last section of the software version line.
Example: Software Version: 4.10.01.0017-Q6.23.00
In this example, the version is: 6.23.00Q
HOW TO INSTALL THE DRIVER:
(Windows 98)
1. Start Windows 98.
2. Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
4. Open the Display icon.
5. Click on the 'Setting' tab.
6. Click on the 'Advanced...' button.
7. Click on the 'Adapter' tab.
8. Click on 'Change...' button. Then Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box appears.
9. Click on the 'Next>' button.
10. Select 'Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want'.
11. Click on 'Next>' button.
12. Click on 'Have Disk...' button.
13. Type " C:\DRIVERS\W9X\DISPLAY " and click on OK. Or specify the full path you extracted in the step 2 and click on 'OK'. The video driver list appears.
14. Confirm ' NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD ' is selected in the 'Models:' field and click on the 'OK' button.
15. Click on 'Yes' button if 'Update Driver Warning' dialog is appeared.
16. Click on 'Next' button.
17. Click on 'Finish' button.
18. Click on 'Close' button.
19. Click on 'Close' button in Display Properties dialog.
20. Windows 98 prompts you to restart the computer to make the display driver change effective.
For Windows 95 OSR2 (OEM Service Release 2)
1. Start Windows 95.
2. Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
4. Open the Display icon.
5. Click on the 'Setting' tab.
6. Click on the 'Advanced Properties' button.
7. Click on the 'Adapter' tab.
8. Click on 'Change...' button.
9. Click on 'Have disk...' and click on 'OK'.
10. Type " C:\DRIVERS\W9X\DISPLAY " and click on 'OK'. Or specify the full path you extracted in the step 2 and click on 'OK'. The video driver list appears.
11. Confirm ' NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD ' is selected in the 'Models:' field and click on the 'OK' button.
12. Click on 'Close'.
13. Select your screen parameters from the Color palette, Desktop area, and Font size; then click on 'OK'.
14. Click on 'Close'.
15. Follow the instructions on the screen.
16. Windows 95 prompts you to restart the computer to make the display driver change effective.
For Windows 95 and Windows 95 Service Pack 1
1. Start Windows 95.
2. Extract the drivers to the hard drive.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel'.
4. Open the Display icon.
5. Click on the 'Setting' tab.
6. Click on the 'Change Display Type...' button.
7. Click on 'Change...' button.
8. Click on 'Have disk...' and click on 'OK'.
9. Type " C:\DRIVERS\W9X\DISPLAY " and click on 'OK'. Or specify the full path you extracted in the step 2 and click on 'OK'. The video driver list appears.
10. Confirm ' NeoMagic MagicGraph 128XD ' is selected in the 'Models:' field and click on the 'OK' button.
11. Click on 'Close'.
12. Select your screen parameters from the Color palette, Desktop area, and Font size; then click on 'OK'.
13. Click on 'Close'; then click on 'Close' again.
14. Follow the instructions on the screen.
15. Windows 95 prompts you to restart the computer to make the display driver change effective. |
