The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of the following ThinkPad computer:

Additional information
NOTE: This driver will automatically extract to your hard drive. It will only extract under Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT. The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating system.

Installation Guide
HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED (Windows 95/98):
1. Start Windows 95/98.
2. Click on 'Start' -> 'settings' -> 'Control Panel'
3. Open the 'System' Icon.
4. Click on the 'Device Manager' Tab.
5. Expand the 'Modem' section
6. Select "Lucent Win Modem" and click on 'Properties'.
7. Click on the 'Driver' Tab.
8. Click on the 'Driver File details' button.
9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LTMODEM.VXD. The file has the version number embedded. For example:
- The version is displayed as "File version: 5.44"

HOW TO DETERMINE WHAT VERSION IS INSTALLED (Windows NT 4.0)
1. Start Windows NT 4.0 and logon with administrative privledge.
2. Click on 'Start' -> 'Find' -> 'Files or Folders...'.
3. Click on the 'Name & Location' tab.
4. In the 'Named:' field, type in "ltmodem.sys".
5. In the 'Look in:' field, specify "Local Hard drives (C:,D:)".
6. Click on the 'Find Now' button.

Windows will now search your hard drive for ltmodem.sys. If the file is not found, then the Modem driver is not installed on your system.

7. In the 'Found' part of the window, right click on "ltmodem.sys" located in "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32" and select "Properties".
8. Click on the "Version" tab.
File version information will be displayed.


HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Start Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 (If booting NT, Logon with administrative privilege).
2. Extract this package to the hard disk.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Run...'.
4. Type " C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MODEM\SETUP.EXE " and click on 'OK'.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.


UNATTENDED INSTALLATION:
- Use 'SETUP.EXE -S' command at the step 4.


HOW TO UNINSTALL:
1. Start Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 (If booting NT, Logon with administrative privilege).
2. Extract this package to the hard disk.
3. Click on 'Start' -> 'Run...'.
4. Type "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\MODEM\LTREMOVE.EXE" and click on 'OK'. If it shows error message about "Can't find SETUPAPI.DLL", use "LTREMV95.EXE".
5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
6. Restart the system for all of the changes to take effect.
