version 0.55 - ISB055WW
(Fix) Even though the Will not suspend even if LCD is closed option is enabled, the system may enter suspend mode if the system remains inactive for a while after the LCD panel is closed.

Attention:
If you need to downgrade the BIOS from the BIOS version ISB052WW (or higher) to older BIOS version(s) and you have already gotten the System Program Service Diskette(s) for the older BIOS version(s), please once again get each System Program Service Diskette package for them and then downgrade the BIOS with the diskette(s), which now has new BIOS flash utility to support backward compatibility for the enhancement on password security function implemented in the BIOS version ISB052WW. The System Program Service Diskette(s) should have the version "0.nnFIX" (nn: any numbers) when you once again get it (them). If you already set power-on password and downgrade the BIOS with the diskette whose version is not "0.nnFIX", the current power-on password will be rejected at a power-on password prompt, so the system does not start. In other words, backward compatibility for the enhancement on password security function is not kept. In such the case, you have to take your computer to IBM repair center to remove the power-on password.
Notes:
- You may be asked to enter the current power-on password during the BIOS update operation if it was set before. Please input the current power-on password when the following message appears on the screen during the BIOS update. Please input your password: The supervisor password can not override the power-on password during this operation.
- As written on LCCM Compatibility and Configuration Guide, remove the Power-on password prior to flashing the BIOS in LCCM environment.
- You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the system program.
- If your computer is attached to any kind of port replicator, turn off the computer and detach it before proceeding.
- Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is write protected.
-
If system hangs during the system program update with then message:
| " Updating System BIOS ....... " |
| or the following message appears at the end of system program update: |
| " >> Error << A hardware error occurred" |
|
the system program may not have updated. Power off the system then power on again to see if the system works. If the system does not work, the system has a problem. Contact a service center to have the system repaired. If the system works, the system program has not been updated. You can use the system with the current version of system program. But, to update the system program, contact a service center and have the system repaired. (The system can be powered off by holding the power switch in the ON position for approximately 5 seconds, then release it.)
|
- Print these instructions or display them on another computer.
- Firmly connect the AC adapter to the computer.
- Insert the System Program Service Diskette into the diskette drive and turn on the computer.
- When prompted press the 1 key to update the system program.
Attention: Do not turn off or suspend the computer until the update has been completed. If you turn off or suspend the computer while the update is still in progress, the system board may have to be replaced.
After the update has been completed, do the following to make the changes effective.
- Make sure the System Program Service Diskette is removed from the diskette drive, then press and hold the power switch for more than 5 seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer. When the message Press F1 for IBM BIOS setup Utility appears at the bottom right hand corner, press the F1 key. Wait for the BIOS Utility screen to appears.
- If a password prompt appears, type the correct password.
- Press the F9 key.
- Select Yes to load default configuration.
- Press the F10 key.
- Select Yes.
- The system restart automatically.
If you updated the BIOS with the System Program Service Diskette version 0.53WX or later, do the following also.
- Power off the computer.
- Disconnect the AC Adapter, then remove the battery pack.
- Wait for five seconds.
- Insert the battery pack.
These steps need to be completed only once with the System Program Service Diskette version 0.53WX or later. Once you have completed these steps, you will not need to follow these steps for any future BIOS releases. Refer to version 0.53WX - ISB053WW in the Summary of Changes section for the details.
