Modem driver I for Windows 98 - ThinkPad 1400, 1500 (2621)
Applicable countries and regions
The package provides the Lucent Modem driver program for Microsoft Windows 98.

Only the following Machine Types and Models are supported:
- ThinkPad i Series 1400: Type 2621 - 42* (Except 422, 429), 43*, 44* (Except 442), 46*, 48* (Except 482, 486, 489), 4A*, 4B*, 4C*, RR3, RR4, RR5,

- ThinkPad i Series 1500: Type 2621 - 540, 541, 547, 548, 560, 567

Note:
- Your machine type and model number can be found on the bottom of the unit next to the bar code label.
- This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

I. Summary of changes
version 5.44
- (New) Support fo ThinkPad i Series 1400 Model 420/460/480 and ThinkPad i Series 1500 Model 540/560
version 5.44a
- (Fix) Change the message to English message during installing MODEM driver under OS with non-IBM-qualified language.

II. Installation instructions
  1. Start Windows 98
  2. Extract the modem drivers onto the hard drive.
  3. Click on 'Start' then click on 'Run...'.
  4. In the Run dialog window, type " C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MODEM\SETUP.EXE " to install the modem driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

UNATTENDED INSTALLATION:
- If you prefer unattended installation, use 'SETUP.EXE -S' command at step 4.

III. Uninstall instructions
  1. Start Windows 98
  2. Extract the modem drivers onto the hard drive.
  3. Click on 'Start' then click on 'Run...'.
  4. In the Run dialog window, type " C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MODEM\LTREMOVE.EXE " to remove the modem driver. Click OK to start the removal process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead. If it shows error message about "Can't find SETUPAPI.DLL", use "LTREMV95.EXE" instead..
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for all of the changes to take effect.

IV. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows 98
  2. Click on 'Start'->'Settings'->'Control Panel'
  3. Open the 'System' icon
  4. Click on the 'Device Manager' tab
  5. Expand the 'Modem' section
  6. Select "Lucent Win Modem" and click on 'Properties'
  7. Click on the 'Driver' tab
  8. Click on the 'Driver File Details...' button
  9. Highlight the file "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LTMODEM.VXD" The file has the version number embedded.
  • For example: The version is displayed as File version: 5.44a.
