Modem driver II for Windows 98 - ThinkPad 1400, 1500 (2621/2651)

The package provides the Lucent Modem driver program for Microsoft Windows 98.
Only the following Machine Types and Models are supported:
- ThinkPad i Series 1400:
2621 - 422, 429, 442, 482, 483, 486, 489, 49x, 4Ex, 4Fx, 4Gx
- ThinkPad i Series 1500:
2651 - 542, 549, 54G, 562, 569, 56G, 592, 5FF
Note:
- Your machine type and model number can be found on the bottom of the unit next to the bar code label.
- This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. |

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard drive. It will only extract under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000.

I. Summary of changes

- (New) Inital release
version 5.62 (Certified)
- (New) Add Microsoft digital signature. If you installed the previous version 5.62, you do not need to install this version. The functionality of the drivers are the same.
II. Installation instructions
- Start Windows 98
- Extract the modem drivers onto the hard drive.
- Click Start -> Run.
- In the Run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MODEM\SETUP to install the modem driver. Click OK to start the installation process If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Restart the system for the driver to be effective.
III. Uninstall instructions
- Start Windows 98
- Extract the modem drivers onto the hard drive.
- Click Start -> Run.
- Type in C:\DRIVERS\W9X\MODEM\LTREMOVE.EXE in the Open box. Then click OK button. If it shows error message about Can't find SETUPAPI.DLL, use LTREMV95.EXE.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Restart the system for all of the changes to take effect.
IV. Determining which version is installed
- Start Windows 98
- Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
- Open the System icon.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Expand the Modem section.
- Select Lucent Win Modem and click Properties.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click the Driver File Details button.
- Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LTMODEM.VXD. The file has the version number embedded.
For example:
The version is displayed as File version: 5.62.
