This package provides Intel(R) SpeedStep(TM) Technology Applet. SpeedStep is a mobile technology that allows an enabled CPU to operate in multiple performance states under Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me/NT4.0/2000.
*This package enables or updates the applet programs of the following ThinkPad computers:
- ThinkPad 600X with SpeedStep, type 2645 - 5F* and 9F*
- ThinkPad 600X with SpeedStep
- ThinkPad A20m, A20p with SpeedStep
- ThinkPad A21m, A21p with SpeedStep
- ThinkPad A22e, A22m, A22p with SpeedStep
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22 with SpeedStep
- ThinkPad X20, X21 with SpeedStep
- ThinkPad TransNote with SpeedStep |

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 2000.

I. Summary of changes

-(New) Initial release for 600X.

-(New) Dynamic transition from low to high state is also supported on Windows 95/NT
-(Fix) The setting window is not correctly viewed in user mode of Windows NT/2000
-(Fix) Dynamic transition is not done in user mode of Windows NT/2000.
- (New) Support for ThinkPad A2*x family, T2* family, and X2* family.
II. Installation instructions
Before installing this applet, any previous version must be uninstalled from Add/Remove programs.
UNINSTALL:
- Start Windows.
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- Click Install/Uninstall (or Change/Remove programs ) tab.
- Click Intel Speed Step technology Applet in the list.
- Click the Add/Remove (or Change/Remove ) button.
- Follow instructions and restart Windows..
INSTALL:
- Start Windows, if using Windows NT or 2000, logon with administrative privileges.
- Extract the package to the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, then click Run.
- In the Run dialog window, type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SPDSTP\SETUP.EXE to install the utility. Click the OK button to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
III. Determining which version is installed
Check the date stamp of the PRPCUI.DLL file in following directory:
Windows 95/98 : C:\Windows\System
Windows NT/2000 : C:\Windows\System32
NOTE: C:\Windows drive/directory may vary.
