1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract the driver onto the hard drive.
3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
4. Double-click the System icon.
5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
6. Click the Device Manager button.
7. Double-click Mice and other pointing devices .
8. Double-click either the PS/2 TrackPoint or PS/2 Compatible Mouse whichever choice appears in the list.
9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click the Update Driver button. The Update Device Driver Wizard runs.
11. Click the Next button.
12. Click Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver.
13. Click the Next button.
14. Click the Have Disk button and specify the directory where the driver files are extracted, the default location is C:\DRIVERS\W2K\TPOINT.
15. Click the OK button. Then driver list appears.
16. Click IBM PS/2 TrackPoint in the list.
17. Click the Next button.
18. Click the Next button.
19. If you see the warning panel which asks if you want to replace the keyboard port driver(s) or not, click the Yes button.
20. Click the Finish button in the Update Device Driver Wizard window.
21. Click the Close button in the IBM PS/2 TrackPoint Properties window.
22. Restart your system to make the new settings effective.
    
    

1. Start Windows XP and logon with administrative privileges.
2. Extract the driver to the hard drive.
3. For Windows XP with Classic Start menu, click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel. Otherwise, click Start, then click Control Panel.
4. For Windows XP with Category view of the Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon. Then, click the System icon. Otherwise, double-click the System icon.
5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
6. Click the Device Manager button.
7. Double-click Mice and other pointing devices.
8. Double-click either IBM PS/2 TrackPoint or PS/2 Compatible Mouse whichever choice appears in the list.

4. Select IBM TrackPoint Support.
5. Click the Change/Remove button.

1. Start Windows 2000.
2. Click Start, select Search, then click For Files or Folders.
3. Click the Name & Location tab.
4. In the Named: field, type tp4track.sys.
5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:, D:) .
6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for tp4track.sys. If the file is not found, then the TrackPoint driver is not installed on your system.
7. In the Found part of the window, select the tp4track.sys file located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS.
8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column. The time stamp on the file will be the version number, "03:50a" - is version 3.50.
   
   

1. Start Windows XP.
2. For Windows XP with Classic Start Menu, click Start, select Search, and click For Files or Folders. Otherwise, click Start then click Search.
3. In the Search Companion panel, click All filers.
4. In the All or part of the file name: field, type tp4track.sys.
5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard Drives (C:) or Local Hard Drives (C:,D:).
6. Click the Search button. Windows will now search your hard drive for tp4track.sys. If the file is not found, then the TrackPoint driver is not installed on your system.
7. In the Search Results panel, select the tp4track file located in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS.
8. Right-click tp4track and click Properties.
9. Click the Version tab. The version number is listed next to the File version: line.
