This package provides the audio driver for Windows 2000 users.
The audio driver enables or updates the audio function of the following ThinkPad system:

- ThinkPad 240X-Z

II. Installation instructions
Clean Install

  1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the System icon.
  5. Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button.
  6. Click Multimedia Audio Controller in the list.
  7. Right-click Multimedia Audio Controller and select Uninstall.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Action and choose Scan for hardware changes.
  10. Click Next, then Next again.
  11. Check Specify a location, and click Next.
  12. Type in C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO and click OK.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Click Finish.
  15. Restart the system for the driver to take effect.

Upgrade Install

  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Extract this package to the hard disk.
  3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the System icon.
  5. Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button.
  6. Double-click Sound, video and game controllers .
  7. Double-click Crystal SoundFusion(tm) CS4281 WDM Audio.
  8. Click the Driver tab.
  9. Click the Update Driver button, then click Next .
  10. Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver, then click Next .
  11. Click Have Disk .
  12. Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO in the Copy manufacturer's files from: box, and click OK .
  13. Click Crystal SoundFusion(tm) CS4281 WDM Audio, and click Next .
  14. Make sure the Crystal SoundFusion(tm) CS4281 WDM Audio is selected, and click Next .
  15. Click Finish, then Close .
  16. Follow the instructions and reboot the system.
 
III. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button.
  5. Double-click the Sound, video and game controllers section.
  6. Double-click Crystal SoundFusion(tm) CS4281 WDM Audio.
  7. Click the Driver tab.
  8. Click the Driver File Details button. The version is displayed in the file version line.
