The line of EIDE hard drive (HDD) upgrade options for PCs, IntelliStation workstations, and entry-level Netfinity servers with the new 20.4GB ATA/100 Hard Drives. The new 20.4GB 7200 rpm drive launches an incredible new performance level for EIDE drives with the following:
- Fifth generation 7200 rpm EIDE drive design
- Packaging 15GB of data per disk platter using advanced disk and giant magnetoresistive head technologies
- Delivering 18 to 36 MBps of sustained data; rates unheard of in 1999 even for 10,000 rpm Ultra160 SCSI drives
- Improvement in typical average read seek times to 8.7 milliseconds
- New 100 MBps instantaneous data transfer rate through implementation of the latest Ultra ATA/100 EIDE drive interface protocol
These products provide our customers with superior yet affordable performance and capacity choices for meeting the demanding needs of the target systems. Ontrack Disk Manager DiskGo! drive installation software is included with each HDD, enabling easy drive installation in just minutes. This software also enables use of the full GB capacity of these large drives despite hardware and operating system limitations that would otherwise limit usable capacity to 2.1 GB, 4.2 GB or 8.4 GB. This easy-to-use software is now shipped with all single-packed PSG Desktop EIDE HDDs in CD-ROM format providing drive installation
