Windows NT shutdown service - ThinkPad A2*, T2*, X2*

This package provides the function to power off the ThinkPad system automatically after shutdown of Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.

Additional information

Note: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 2000.

I. Summary of changes

II. Installing/Uninstalling Shutdown Service
Install or uninstall the Shutdown Service/Power Switch Service on your system after your logon with Administrator's right.
  1. Extract this Package into your local hard disk drive.
  2. Click Start, then click Run.
  3. Specify the installation program INSTALL.EXE with full path you extracted in the step 1 and click OK.
  4. Follow the Installer's instructions as you select the appropriate installation / uninstall options and start installation/uninstallation.
You can also uninstall the Shutdown Service by clicking Start, pointing to Settings, then clicking Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Applications. Highlight Shutdown Service for Windows NT, and click Add/Remove.

III. Installing/Uninstalling Power Switch Service
  1. Extract this Package into your local hard disk drive.
  2. Click Start, then click Run.
  3. Specify the installation program BWSINST.EXE with full path you extracted in the step 1 and click OK.
  4. Follow the Installer's instructions as you select the appropriate installation / uninstall options and start installation/uninstallation.

You can also uninstall the Shutdown Service by clicking Start, pointing to Settings, then clicking Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Applications. Highlight Shutdown Service for Windows NT, and click Add/Remove.  

IV. Determining which version is installed
You can identify what version of the driver has already been installed by the Date/Time of the following files.

*1 These files are located in the c:\winnt\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS folder

Note
: c:\winnt is the typical sample for Windows installed drive and root directory. If you install Windows in another drive/directory, Please specify your Windows installed drive and root directory.
 
To check the date/time of these files:
  1. Start Windows NT.
  2. Click Start, point to Find, then click Files or Folders.
  3. Click the Name & Location tab.
  4. In the Named: field, type the file name listed above table.
  5. In the Look in: field, specify Local Hard drives (C:,D:).
  6. Click the Find Now button. Windows will now search your hard drive for the specified file. If the file is not found, then the driver is not installed on your system.
  7. In the Found part of the window, select the file name located in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 for EXE file or in C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS for SYS file.
  8. Scroll the window to the right and look at the Modified column to check the date/time of the each file.
