This package provides the Ethernet driver for Microsoft Windows 98/Me/2000 users.
This release supports the following systems:
- ThinkPad i Series 1200 Machine Type 1161 - 11x, 41x, 46N, 51x, 56N, 61x, 66N, 71x, 91x (Ethernet Models only) - ThinkPad i Series 1200 Machine Type 1161 - 43*, 73*, 93*, 94*, 96*)(Ethernet Model only) - ThinkPad i Series 1300 Machine Type 1171 - 2AU, 21U, 61F, 61G, 61M, 61U, 71U, 81G, 81M, 91F, 91U (Ethernet Models only) - ThinkPad i Series 1300 Machine Type 1171 - 4**, 6MU, 8MU, 9MU)(Ethernet Model only) - ThinkPad 130 Machine Type 1171 - 51J, 61J, 71J, 81J (Ethernet Models only)
This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. |

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 2000.

II. Installation instructions
NOTE: If you receive a message of "e100b.cat missing" during the installation, skip this file and continue the installation.
Windows 98/Me
- Start Windows 98/Me.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) to select it.
- Click the Properties button.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click the Update Driver button.
- Click the Next button on the Update Device Driver Wizard window.
- Click Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET.
- Click the OK button.
- Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100).
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Finish button.
- Click the Yes button and restart the system for the driver to be effective.
Windows 2000
- Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
- Click the Device Manager button.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Right-click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) and select Properties.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click the Update Driver button.
- Click the Next button.
- Click Display a list of the known drivers for this device, you can choose a specific driver.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\WIN\ETHERNET.
- Click the OK button.
- Click Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100) in the list.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Finish button.
- Restart the system for the driver to be effective.
III. Determining which version is installed
Windows 98/Me
- Start Windows 98/Me.
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Double-click the Intel(R) PRO/100B PCI Adapter (TX). If Intel(R) PRO/100B PCI Adapter (TX) cannot be found and Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100)is found, then the Windows 98/Me native driver is installed.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click the Driver File details button.
- Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\E100BNT5.SYS. The file has the File version number embedded.
Windows 2000
- Start Windows 2000.
- Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
- Click Device Manager.
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Select Intel Intel(R) PRO/100B PCI Adapter (TX). If Intel(R) PRO/100B PCI Adapter (TX) cannot be found and Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100) is found, Windows 2000 native driver is installed.
- Right-click Intel(R) PRO/100B PCI Adapter (TX) and select Properties.
- Click the Driver button.
- Click the Drivers Details button.
- Highlight the file C:\WINNT\System32\DRIVERS\e100bnt5.sys. The file version will be displayed at file version.
