Mini PCI card removal and installation - ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23

This document contains instructions for removing and installing a Mini PCI card in the ThinkPad T20, T21, T22, T23 series laptop.
NOTE: Remove the battery from system.
Removing the card:
- Loosen the screw, but do not remove it.
- Lift the door and remove it.

NOTE: The following illustration shows the combo card. Connector (A) is for the LAN feature and (B) is for the modem feature. Disconnect either (A) or (B) in step 4. This slot also supports a Mini PCI modem card or Mini PCI network card.
- Remove the metal shield. Lift the front end gently and the shield will pull free.
- Pry the lock levers gently away from the modem card. The modem should pop up.
- Remove the cables from the card. Depending on which card is installed there may be one or two cables connected. If the system has the modem only option, then there will be only 1 cable. If the unit has the modem/ethernet combo card there will be two cables connected.
- Remove the card from the slot.


To install the card, reverse the procedure
NOTE: Make sure not to pinch the connector cable when reinstalling the Mini PCI adapter.
