UM Services patch to support ThinkPad Alert-on-LAN - ThinkPad A21e
|

This package contains patch files which includes two fix modules:
- Alert-on-LAN (AoL) SMBus drivers
- and a INI file for AoL Proxy to receive AoL messages correctly from ThinkPad machines

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard drive. It will only extract under Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, and Windows 2000.

I Package contents
This package contains the following four files:
README.1ST - Readme containing installation instructions
AOLAN.INI - Updated file for Alert on LAN Proxy machine to support ThinkPad.
I2CNT.SYS - Alert on LAN driver for ThinkPad A21e (for Windows NT and 2000).
SMBUS.VXD - Alert on LAN driver for ThinkPad A21e (for Windows 95 and 98).
II. Installation instructions for AOLAN.INI
This file must be installed on the Alert on LAN Proxy machine that receives the Alert on LAN events from ThinkPad machines.
Installation Instruction
- On the Alert on LAN Proxy machine, locate the same name file and replace it with this new file. The AOLAN.INI file will default to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Intel\Alert on LAN\winnt\proxy
III. Installation instructions for I2CNT.SYS
This file must be installed on the ThinkPad A21e machine that is using the Alert-on-LAN function under Windows NT or Windows 2000.
Installation Instruction
- On the ThinkPad, locate the same name file and replace it with this new file, then restart the machine. I2CNT.SYS file will default to the following directory:
c:\winnt\system32\drivers (for Windows NT)
c:\Program Files\IBM\UMS\drivers (for Windows 2000)
If the file is in use you will need to stop the driver service by executing the following command from DOS command prompt window:
net stop i2c
After the service has stopped, replace the file and restart the system.
IV. Installation instructions for SMBUS.VXD
This file must be installed on the ThinkPad A21e machine that is using Alert on LAN function under Windows 95 or Windows 98.
Installation Instruction
- On the ThinkPad, locate the same name file, and replace it with this new file, then restart the machine. SMBUS.VXD file will default to the following directory:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
