This package provides the audio driver for Windows 2000. This package enables or updates the audio function of the following ThinkPad computers: - ThinkPad i Series 1200 Machine Type 1161 - 11x, 41x, 46N, 51x, 56N, 61x, 66N, 71x, 91x
- ThinkPad i Series 1300 Machine Type 1171 - 2AU, 21U, 61F, 61G, 61M, 61U, 71U, 81G, 81M, 91F, 91U
- ThinkPad 130 1171 - 51J, 61J, 71J, 81J
This program is language independent and can be used with any language system. |

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 2000.
An audio patch for Windows 2000 is required to prevent some problems. Click here to access the audio patch.

I. Summary of changes

- (New) Support for ThinkPad i Series 1200(1161-11U/41U/51U/71U) ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171-61U/81U/91U)
- (Fix) Left and right channel control failed. Sound can be heard from right channel while selecting left channel only and vice versa.

- (Fix) If system memory size is increased more than 128MB, the system intermittently stops with blue screen.
II. Installation instructions
If you have newly installed Windows 2000 on the system, follow the procedure indicated as Clean Installation. Otherwise, follow the procedure indicated as Update Installation.
Update Installation
- Start Windows 2000
- Extract this package onto the hard drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
- Click the Device Manager button.
- Double-click Sound, video and game controllers in the list.
- Double-click Crystal WDM Audio Codec.
- Click the Driver tab at the top of the Crystal WDM Audio Codec Properties window.
- Click the Update Driver button.
- Click the Next button in Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window.
- Click the Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Have Disk button.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO.
- Click the OK button.
- Click Crystal WDM Audio Codec in the list.
- Click the Next button.
- If the Update Driver Warning window appeared, click the Yes button.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Finish button.
- Restart the system for the driver to take effect.
Clean Installation
- Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
- Extract this package onto the hard drive.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
- Click the Device Manager button.
- Click Multimedia Audio Controller in the list.
- Right-click Multimedia Audio Controller and select Uninstall.
- Click the OK button in Confirm Device Removal window.
- Click Action on top and choose Scan for hardware changes.
- Click Next from Found New Hardware Wizard.
- Click the Next button.
- Check Specify a location.
- Click the Next button.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the Next button.
- Press the Finish button.
- Restart the system for the driver to take effect.
III. Determining which version is installed
- Start Windows 2000.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
- Click the Device Manager button.
- Expand the Sound, video and game controller section.
- Select Crystal WDM Audio Codec.
- Right-click Crystal WDM Audio Codec and select Properties.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Then it will show the version number.
