Click here for instructions and limitations on downloading and creating the diskette .
Building the bootable diskette
- Download the file to your hard disk drive.
- Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.
- Double-click on the file to extract the image to a diskette.
Installation instructions
Using one of the following drives:
- IBM portable CD-ROM drive CD-20X
- CNF portable CD-ROM XA drive 2X
- Panasonic 783 portable CD-ROM drive
- Make sure the ThinkPad Recovery CD is in the PC Card CD-ROM drive, and power off the system.
- Power on the system with the diskette in the floppy disk drive.
- Follow the instructions on screen.
Using the IBM Portable Drive Bay
- Make sure the ThinkPad Recovery CD is in the CD-ROM drive of the IBM Portable Drive Bay, and power off the system.
- Power on the system with the diskette in the floppy disk drive.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Using the IBM Portable Drive Bay 2000 (PCMCIA only)
- Make sure the ThinkPad Recovery CD is in the CD-ROM drive of the IBM Portable Drive Bay 2000, and power off the system.
- Power on the system with the diskette in the floppy disk drive.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Using the IBM USB-CD ROM (part number (P/N) 33L5151)
- Make sure the ThinkPad Recovery CD is in the CD-ROM drive of the IBM USB-CD ROM (P/N 33L5151), and power off the system.
- Power on the system with the diskette in the floppy disk drive.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
