Audio driver patch program for Windows 2000 - ThinkPad A2*, 1200, 1300

This Audio Features patch program fixes the following error on your system:

** STOP : 0x0000001E (0xC0000005,0x8043E977,0x00000000,0x0000002) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

** Address 8043E977 base at 80400000, dateStamp 384d9b17 - ntoskrnl.exe

*This release supports the following systems:

- ThinkPad i Series 1200 Machine Type
1161 - 11x, 41x, 46N, 51x, 56N, 61x, 66N, 71x, 91x *1 *2
- ThinkPad i Series 1300 Machine Type
1171 - 2AU, 21U, 61F, 61G, 61M, 61U, 71U, 81G, 81M, 91F, 91U *1 *2
- ThinkPad 130 Machine Type 1171 - 51J, 61J, 71J, 81J
- ThinkPad A21e Machine Type 2628 only *1

*1 System memory size is 128MB or more.
This problem does not occur with 64MB system memory
*2 Version of Audio Driver is 5.12.01.4028.
This problemdoes not occur with 5.12.01.4025.

NOTE : This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 2000.
 
This Audio Features patch program fixes the following error on your system:

The ThinkPad system may hang with this message or reboot immediately after displaying this error if "Automatically Reboot at System Failure" setting is checked in System Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery.

NOTE: THIS PATCH IS ONLY NEEDED FOR AUDIO DRIVER VERSION 5.12.01.4028. If a newer audio driver has been installed, this patch is NOT needed.

I. Installation instructions
NOTE: Reduce your system memory to 64MB before applying this patch. Otherwise this System failure may occur during update.

  1. Start Windows 2000 and logon with the administrator privilege.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start , then click Run .
  4. Type c:\drivers\w2k\audiofix\setup in the Open box and click the OK button. (NOTE: c:\drivers\w2k\audiofix\ is the path which this package is extracted in.)
  5. This program will display status dialogs.
  6. Restart the system after finishing this program.
II. Determining which version is installed
  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
  5. Click the Device Manager button.
  6. Expand the Sound, video and game controller section.
  7. Select Crystal WDM Audio Codec .
  8. Right-click Crystal WDM Audio Codec and select Properties .
  9. Click the Driver tab.
  10. Then it will show the version number.
