Symptom
The latest audio driver for the recent IBM ThinkPad models noted below supports and uses the MultiMedia functionality that was added with Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 4. When attempts are made to use these audio drivers with Windows NT Service Pack 3, you will receive error pop-up messages during the GUI mode setup, blue screen traps during reboot, and other errors.

Affected configurations
Any of the following IBM ThinkPad systems with the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 operating system installed:
- ThinkPad 240X, 240Z
- ThinkPad 600X
- ThinkPad A20m, A20p
- ThinkPad A21e, A21m, A21p
- ThinkPad A22m, A22p
- ThinkPad T20, T21, T22
- ThinkPad X20, X21

Solution
Install Windows NT Service Pack 4 or higher before installing the latest audio driver. Windows NT Service Packs are available from Microsoft, http://www.microsoft.com.
