Modem driver IV for Windows 2000 - ThinkPad 1200, 1300

This package provides the modem driver for Windows 2000.
This package enables or updates the modem function of the following ThinkPad computers:

- ThinkPad i Series 1200(1161 - 43*, 73*, 93*, 94*, 96*)
- ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171 - 4**, 6MU, 8MU, 9MU)
- ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171 - 5CU, 5X*, 6XU, 7XG, 8XU, 9X*)

NOTE: This driver will now automatically extract to your hard disk drive. It will only extract under Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows NT, and Microsoft Windows 2000.

I. Summary of changes
Version 3.1.80
- (New) Support for

  • ThinkPad i Series 1200(1161 - 43*, 73*, 93*, 94*, 96*)
  • ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171 - 4**, 6MU, 8MU, 9MU)
  • ThinkPad i Series 1300(1171 - 5CU, 5X*, 6XU, 7XG, 8XU, 9X*)

- (Fix) Unattended installation has a problem.

II. Installation instructions
NOTE: If the audio driver has not been installed on the system, install the audio driver prior to the modem driver.

  1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
  3. Click Start, then click Run.
  4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click the OK button.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. Restart the system for the driver to take effect.
  7. If the Insert Disk window appears, click the OK button.
  8. Type C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM in the Copy files from: box and click the OK button.

III. Determining which version is installed

  1. Start Windows 2000.
  2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the System icon.
  4. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window.
  5. Click the Device Manager button.
  6. Expand the Modem section.
  7. Select Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR.
  8. Right-click Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR and select Properties.
  9. Click the Driver tab. The version number will be displayed.
