This package provides the mdoem driver for Microsoft Windows 98SE users.
The Modem driver enables or updates the audio function of the following ThinkPad computer: - ThinkPad i Series 1200 (1161-43*, 73*, 93*, 94*, 96*) - ThinkPad i Series 1300 (1171-4**, 5CU, 5X*, 6MU, 6XU, 7XG, 8MU, 8XU, 9MU, 9X*)

Summary of changes
Version 3.1.80
- (New) Support for:

- (Fix) During modem application waiting mode, Windows irregularly hangs up.
Version 3.1.97
- (Fix) (Windows 98SE Simplified Chinese) When unpacking the modem driver package, the system shows an error message.
NOTE: This problem only happens in simplified Chinese environment because the previous driver package contains an unnecessary file. The unnecessary file was removed and the driver was repacked. If you have already installed the driver version 3.1.97, you do not need to install this release of the driver.
Installation instructions
NOTE: If the audio driver has not been installed on the system, install the audio driver prior to the modem driver.
- Start Windows 98SE.
- Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
- Click Start, then click Run.
- Type C:\DRIVERS\W98\MODEM\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Restart the system for the driver to take effect.
Determining which version is installed
- Start Windows 98SE.
- Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the System icon.
- Click the Device Manager tab.
- Expand the Modem section.
- Select Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR and click Properties.
- Click the Driver tab.
- Click Driver File Details.
- Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\LTSM.VXD. The file has the version number embedded.
