Hardware requirements
The P275 color monitor operates with system units or graphic adapters that generate a video output signal that falls within the specifications:
| Parameter |
275 |
| Maximum addressability (pels) |
2048 x 1536 |
| Maximum pixel rate (MHz) |
297 |
| Horizontal frequency (kHz) |
30 to 130 |
| Vertical frequency (Hz) |
48 to 170 |
Horizontal and vertical sync signal timings are critical in order to achieve acceptable screen images. As a consequence, support for all possible variations in horizontal and vertical sync timings for any dislay mode cannot be stated.
Software requirements
The P275 color monitor features factory-preset, factory-preloaded, and user-settable display modes. The actual display modes that are used are a function of the attaching system unit, its operating system, and application software.
Factory Preset Modes:
- 640 x 480@60 Hz (VESA 31.5 kHz)
- 640 x 480@85 Hz (VESA 43.3 kHz)
- 800 x 600@85 Hz (VESA 53.7 kHz )
- 1024 x 768@85 Hz (VESA 68.7 kHz)
- 1280 x 1024@75 Hz (VESA 80.0 kHz)
- 1280 x 1024@85 Hz (VESA 91.2 kHz)
- 1600 x 1200@75 Hz (VESA 93.75 kHz)
- 1600 x 1200@85 Hz (VESA 106.3 kHz) (prime mode)
- 1920 x 1440@75 Hz (VESA 112.5 kHz)
Factory Preload Modes:
- 720 x 400@70 Hz (VESA 31.47 kHz )
- 720 x 400@85 Hz (VESA 37.93 kHz )
- 800 x 600@60 Hz (VESA 37.88 kHz)
- 800 x 600@75 Hz (VESA 46.9 kHz )
- 1024 x 768@60 Hz (VESA 48.36 kHz)
- 1024 x 768@70 Hz (VESA 56.48 kHz)
- 1024 x 768@75 Hz (VESA 60.02 kHz)
- 1152 x 864@75 Hz (VESA 67.5 kHz)
- 1280 x 960@85 Hz (VESA 85.94 kHz)
- 1280 x 1024@60 Hz (VESA 63.98 kHz)
- 1600 x 1200@60 Hz (VESA 75.0 kHz)
- 1600 x 1200@65 Hz (VESA 81.25 kHz)
- 1600 x 1200@70 Hz (VESA 87.5 kHz)
- 2048 x 1536@75 Hz (VESA GTF)
- Factory presets: 9
- Factory preloads: 14
- User locations: 15
The factory-presets and factory-preloads cannot be overwritten, but can be adjusted to personal choice. The new settings are automatically stored in one of the user locations and are recalled each time that mode is used. The factory settings for the mode in use, if any, can be re- stored by operating the Geometry Reset control. Information about the current display mode is shown in the on-screen displays. It may be necessary to make some adjustments to the displayed picture to compensate for variations in video signal timings. The user controls can be used to make these adjustments.
Supported operating systems
- Microsoft Windows 98 SE
- Windows NT 4
- Windows 2000 Pro
- Windows Me
Compatibility
The monitor is supplied with a detached video signal cable. This cable has a 15-pin, mini D-shell video connector on one end and a DVI-A connector on the other end. This monitor has been tested with personal computers and is compatible with systems and graphics adapters which comply with the relevant parts of "VESA and industry standards and guidelines for computer display monitor timing" Version 1.0 Revision 0.8, adopted September 17, 1998. Not all supported display modes run at the high refresh rates necessary for flicker-free performance. Display modes at lower refresh rates are available for compatibility with older video adapters and system units and will not be ISO-compliant. Supported display modes are a function of the attaching system unit. The full range of display modes available with these monitors may not be available or supported with all combinations of system units, their operating systems, and application software.
The P275 monitor has been tested for compatibility with the following PC systems:

Limitations
- Horizontal and vertical sync signal timings are critical to achievng acceptable screen images. As a consequence, support for all posible variations in H/V sync timings for any display mode cannot be stated.
- The number of colors shown in any display mode is not limited by the monitor, but depends upon the capabilities of the adapter the monitor is attached to.
- Mains harmonic reduction is only effective during normal operation and not during power management.
- The power-management function is invoked only after initiating signals are received from the attached system unit or graphics adapter. The method used to implement power management follows the VESA DPMS standard. This standard must also be implemented in the attaching system unit and/or graphics adapter for monitor power management to be effective.
- Implementation of monitor plug and play follows the VESA DDC standrd. This standard must also be implemented in the attaching system unit hardware and software to be effective.
- Not all system units are DDC-enabled. In this situation, the user must configure the system to obtain optimum performance from the
system/graphic adapter/monitor combination.
Cable orders
A video signal cable is supplied. It is 1.8 meters (6 feet) long with a 15-pin, mini D-shell connector on one end and a DVI-A connector on the other end.
A separate signal cable adapter (96G2693) is required to provide "1010" ID bits at the monitor interface for those systems that require ID bits.
The following separate video signal cables may also be used:
- HD15 to HD15 (61H0227)
- DVI-A to DVI-A (04N7529)
