This package contains following support module: - To detect and configure the Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Chipset
The following ThinkPad computers are supported: - ThinkPad G40, G41(*1) - ThinkPad R50e (*1) - ThinkPad R51 (Machine Type 2883, 2887, 2888, 2889, 2894 and 2895)(*1)(*2) - ThinkPad X40 (*1)
Notes: - (*1) Only Microsoft Windows 2000/XP are supported. - (*2) Machine Type 1829, 1830, 1831 and 1836 of ThinkPad R51 family are not supported. - If you use the Product Recovery function shipped with your ThinkPad to restore the Microsoft Windows preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Microsoft Windows Operating Systems without the Product Recovery function. - This program is based on the US version but, this is language independent and can be used with any language system. |

Version 4.30.1006
- No update from version 1.01. Only the version notation was changed from 1.01 to 4.30.1006, in order to unite with the version notation of Intel.

- (New) Detect and Configure INTEL 82852/82855 GM/GME Chipset.
Notes:
- If you use the Product Recovery function shipped with your ThinkPad to restore the Microsoft Windows preload environment, you do not need this package. This package is required when you install Windows Operating Systems without the Product Recovery function.
- This program is based on the US version but, this is language independent and can be used with any language system.
Apply this program to enumerate INTEL 845 chipset and 855 chipset correctly after installing base operating system with each supplement files.
- Close any running applications.

Run the InstallShield installation program in the INTELINF directory.
- Windows XP/2000: INFINST_autol.exe
- Windows 98SE: INFINST_autol.exe -a -USB2
- You will be prompted to agree to the license agreement. If you do not agree, the Installer will exit before extracting any files.
- Follow the on screen instructions and use the default settings to complete the setup, once the operating system has rebooted.
- This completes the installation of the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility.
Run infinst_autol.exe with the command line flags as follows.
- Windows XP/2000: INFINST_autol.exe -a -s
- Windows 98SE: INFINST_autol.exe -a -s -USB2
- Click Start and then click Run.
- In the Open field, type infinst_autol.exe -a -a -p C:\INTEL.
- Click OK. Setup Screen (INTEL Chipset Software Installation Utility v4.20.1009) appears.
NOTE: This stage just runs the installShield program and does not extract the INF and CAT files.
- Click Next in Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for.
- Click Yes to Accept License Agreement.
- Click Next at ReadMe Information screen. The progress bar shows the extract status. After reaching 100%, the INF and CAT files have been extracted in C:\INTEL folder.
- Check C:\INTEL folder. The ICH4 folder and others should be in C:\INTEL directory.
- The INF and CAT files can be used from the Win2000, Win98, Win98SE, XP folders for installation.
- The subdirectory that you want to use is C:\INTEL\ICH4-M\.
- Create the following directory structure under the Windows Setup Directory:
\$OEM$\$$\INF

Copy the Windows INF files from the the following folder to the directory created in Step 1.
- Windows 2000: C:\INTEL\ICH4-M\Win2000
- Windows XP: C:\INTEL\ICH4-M\XP
- Create the following directory structure under the Windows Setup Directory:
\$OEM$\$1\drivers\IntelINF
- Copy the Windows INF files and the catalog files (.CAT) from the folder listed in step 2 to the directory created in Step 3.
- Either modify the default Windows installation answer file, Unattended.txt, located in the Windows Setup Directory, or create a customized answer file. The answer file must include the following information:

OemPreinstall = Yes
OemPnPDriversPath="drivers\IntelINF"
- Run WINNT.EXE /u:answer file name /s:windows setup directory to install Windows.
- Copy the Windows 98 Second Edition INF Files from the C:\INTEL\ICH4\Win98SE directory to the Windows Setup Directory.

Depending on your Windows Setup Directory content, there are two cases:
- Case A: CUSTOM.INF file is NOT present in the Windows Setup Directory. In this case, rename INFPRELO.INF to CUSTOM.INF.
- Case B: CUSTOM.INF is present in the Windows Setup Directory. In this case, incorporate the content of INFPRELO.INF into the existing CUSTOM.INF file.
- Run SETUP.EXE to install Windows.
