'Safe To Remove Hardware' Pop Up window does not appear with Windows XP SP2 - ThinkPad General

Under Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, while removing some hardware, such as DVD combo drive and battery, from the ThinkPad Bay drive (Ultrabay(TM), Ultrabay Slim), the 'Safe To Remove Hardware' information pop up window does not appear on the system tray area.

- Microsoft Knowledge Base number is 883517 for this issue. For the information about the fix module, visit the Microsoft Knowledge Base homepage at http://support.microsoft.com , type "883517" in the search field, and click the search button.
- Make sure that the bay status indicator light, usually located above the Ultrabay, is off, telling you that it is ready for replacing the device.
